Late 1950s or early 1960s Schrade Walden bird and trout in WondaWood for Craftsman. I always think that the word 'bacon' should be substituted for 'bird', but that is just me.

Found this L 66 Western a local flea yesterday. Not abused and a nice patina. Reading through some of the Western info this would be a post war knife.

Those 66s are fine using knives. I have always liked that blade shape for a hunting knife.

What a great find, especially in that condition. No grinder marks, nice full blade and hice patina. Id make a sheath for that ans use it. It's a classic.

I'm with you on the blade profile, this my first Western I think.

A sheath came with it but it wasn't a Western sheath and was most unstiched and falling apart. It just so happened that there was a vendor there that worked in leather. He had a very nice sheath for reasonable money. The other wasn't worth fixing. The full blade without poor sharpening methods was what convinced me this was worth getting.

Nope. They come with black grivory plastic stuff and black blade coat that rubs/scratches off and looks lame. These are Teak wood home made covers and took the coating off the blade too.

Yes. This would be part of the early post-war civilian manufacturing runs. The steel guard, with "MADE IN USA" as part of the 3rd line and NO decorative (brass, nickle-silver, red or white fiber disks) combine to ID this one a post-WW2, most likely late August or September 1945.
Various decorative disks began getting added before brass guards showed up.

A Mora Scouting knife, probably a import. I like the sheath as much as the knife...

Mora knives are functionally excellent. I love that sheath! You can buy old and new versions of those knives for a song.

Camillus hunting knife high school buddy gave me around 1978 , it was painted black and tossed in dads work bench. Found it again 10 years ago molded and rust spots ,cleaned it up with soap and water, steel wool and mineral oil. See a lot of them listed for sale as military knives

I love it, and from what you described it cleaned up very well. Good job on it. I can see where it could be mistaken for a military knife.

Sweet! 5.5 years in the wait! Do you forget it was coming and surprised when it showed up? Dumb question, how could you forget a Randall was on the way? Congratulations!

Funny you should ask Byrd. I didn’t really forget but it was a surprise.
I ordered a wrench for work so when I found the box in my mail box I threw it in my truck. Got to work I tore the box open and got a surprise. Thankfully I didn’t cut the sheath or send it flying across the parking lot.
Toungeriver,
It’s a model 1 7” carbon steel false top edge #2 handle and my name engraved.

Not in the same class as that beautiful Randall, but this Buck 105 arrived and I am liking it (not necessarily the etch).
