I believe yours is referred to as a Federal Shield.

That's a beautiful knife Tom! One usually sees this style knife with at least 2 blades, but the single spear on your knife really makes it special! Congratulations, I WANT ONE! LOL!

I wish it were smooth white bone, but it's some kind of synthetic (plastic) material. I actually got that knife specifically to have re-handled/modified. It's a Schrade+ USA 175.

Well...here it is at last...modified as planned (by muskrat man) with smooth white/natural bone and red spacer. Also had the sheepsfoot blade modded into a Wharncliffe. Now, it's exactly what I had imagined when I bought it, and exactly what I wanted.

Sorry, cudgee, I considered many different types of wood, but bone just seemed like the way to go on this one. Personally, I think it's a huge improvement over the original. Now, I think it looks kind of like a GEC Boy's Knife (same size but, of course, much, much less expensive...and it's a Wharncliffe, so even better, IMHO! )
