To help soothe my soul, this used Ganzo Firebird F729 - CF should be delivered tomorrow. It's like Spyderco had an illicit affair with Benchmade and they had a Pacific rim baby. As I said, it's used but apparently very lightly and I just wanted to see what it's all about, anyway.
It's here.

It's probably not "in the mail" quite yet but it should be real soon. Placed an order today for a GANZO Firebird F759M-OR. It's slightly more than 4" closed and comes in several colors. Plus it's inexpensive.

Novelties, Moderns, Classics - varied bunch of steel floating around the postal system! I just bought an older Buck 103, used but in great shape - just the way I like them. Should get a tracking number tomorrow. OH

T.J. that 23 is a great canvas for a mod if you're so inclined.
Colonel I really like those 103s (Thank you Phil for mine.)

I've got an Ulster 98 Stockman and a Western Barlow underway. They should arrive tomorrow.

I have one of these Milwaukee Hardline D2 flippers coming. They sell for $79 but there's a guy on ebay selling some for $46 so I took a shot.

Tracking says expected delivery tomorrow for this Imperial Hammer Brand jack. It's about 4" which is a little bit (a lot) big for my medium size jack collection but oh well. I don't normally buy shell handles but I've been infatuated with this blade look for quite some time, so..........

Wazu, I was unaware Milwaukee was making knives now. My uncle and grandfather each owned electric contracting companies when I was young (my 80 year old uncle still runs his down in Fayetteville, with my cousin as his partner). Milwaukee was always their power-tool brand of choice, in stock at many of the electric supply houses in eastern NC - trivia I know, but a cool connection to me. Nice Knife! OH
Jerry, I agree with you, those forged blades (look like Old Hickory kitchen knives) just have a rough and ready appearance. I bought a 4" Imperial Bicentennial Stockman off Gino several years ago just to have a pocketknife with forged blades. OH
Ps Imperial also had a red handled version with US ARMY on the handle, not sure if they issued a USMC variation.

Cool. I like it. I wonder how many variations were based on those blades.

Thanks Jerry. I don't know what all variations were included with these blades; I did find online (and save) this hardware catalog page when I searched for info on my Bicentennial Stockman several years ago. OH

Those are distinctive and interesting knives; I like them. But I don't think any of them (along with the CASE and ONTARIO lines of butcher knives) are "forged" in the traditional sense of the word; those marks are just stamped into the blanks like the nail pulls. But I could be wrong.

Nah. I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts those marks are just stamped into the blanks as you said. Just like they do to the Old Hickory butcher knives.

Plucked a hair and ordered a Kershaw Corral Creek.
Should be here tomorrow or Friday.
Cost me an extra $1.50
but for some reason I like the look of the ABS handles better than the wood.

The one I have, has bone handles. Shame you didn't say you were looking for one.

Thanks Paul. Kershaw made or had them made in the US, Japan and China. That one is from China.

My pick-of-the-litter stag GEC #13 Speaker Jack is en route. Should be here Friday or Monday if my estimate's right.
I tried grabbing photos but the stag selection process made the pics vanish and I tried to request the photos from the dealer but haven't gotten any response with them yet. BIG fat knobby stag, I'm really looking forward to this one.

My reservation with my first dealer turned out to be 'double-booked' but I got lucky to find some beautiful stag still available at KSF. Can't wait for this one.

KSF is only about 300 miles up the road from me so when I ordered my Speaker Jack from them on Friday (I wanted Stag but Muslin Micarta was all they had left), with their lightning fast shipping I almost got it next day. It's sitting on the truck in Oak Creek, Wisconsin (just south of Milwaukee) ready to make the trip south on Monday morning and should be delivered by 1400 or so. The Clerk I ordered from Barry (Gunstock Jack) won't be quite as quick.
