Great thread , except for Photobucket. I do love the curvy knives; great ones Mike ( what handles) , Joe ,Floyd, and John.

How did you sharpen them John?

By the way Roger , if Goins was right that Boker is one of ,if not the most spectacular surviving old knives I have ever seen!

If they have a basic edge you can work around a cylindrical stone of maybe a 1" diameter. I also have a diamond stick that dresses well. Truth is, unless I'm carrying one of my knives, I don't sharpen them. No need. Hope this helps. Thanks for the flattering comments J.O'.

Sorry about not getting back sooner, J O', I'm having computer problems that are not resolved yet.
Our knives are quite similar; yours has a thicker butt cap I believe. Could still be made by Walden of course.
Mine has a very strong spring.

Joe, Yours is certainly less used than mine. Whoever had mine really knew how to sharpen it. The edge is like a scalpel. I've had it over thirty years and have never touched it. Its a wallflower now. Agreed, those springs are thumbnail rippers and scary to open and close. O'.

Is the suggestion to graciously accept that killer hawks bill that you already sharpened for me and are going to mail to me?

If it's to use that abrasive stone, I'm less stoked. But also interested and thankful still. I've just been using a smiths pocket sharpener with the blade clamped in my hands free jig to keep it level. Sketchy results.

From what I've learned here on AAPK, this was made between 1945-1983.

Floyd. The Boker has a nice even edge. Not easy to do on a hawk.

Crock sticks is what I use to sharpen. I have an old Empire I use sometimes. I used to carry a Lockwood Bros. Paul Hillborn gave me.
