I don't know T.J. I've used it most of my life and don't have any idea where I picked it up. Hadn't a clue it's a real name.

You didn't have to change your spelling, I just found it a little ironic that you would have used that name, beings that it is not that common.

You're right. Not very common. Sure wish I could remember where I picked it up. Oh well, no use worrying about it. It is very interesting to know it's a real name.

The family were Quakers in the early years. Had to leave Scotland due to religious persecution. Ended up initially in New Garden Township, PA, later they founded the town of Union Bridge, MD, on to Ohio and then to Louisiana.

Folks sure did move around back in those days. Still do I guess. The earliest record we have of my family is Anderson County South Carolina. After the Revolutionary War, they moved to someplace in Tennessee then on to Muhlenberg County Kentucky. In the late 1800's they left Muhlenberg County and moved north to Posey County Indiana. Some stayed there and some moved across the river into White County Illinois. That's where my grandfather was born in 1893.

A lot of folks in the early days left Kentucky and went to Indiana. Maybe they got homestead land grants to settle the territory.

I had never seen this character before and was (still am) highly amused by the name. "Sandi Cheeks"

Cartoons aren't for kids anymore.

After I posted a special song for Willie it reminded me of the Statler Brothers 'A Special Song for Wanda'. One of my many favorites.

Reminds me of home and I don't mean Rockford, Illinois.

Edit: Maybe that's because Clay, KY is only about 40 miles, as the crow flies, from where I grew up.

This one, written by Harold Reid, caused quite a bit of controversy in the group. I understand Lew DeWitt had moral objections to the song but they did it anyway.

The 'Statler Brothers' started out as 'The Four Star Quartet', and later changed it to 'The Kingsmen'. After the rock band 'The Kingsmen' came out with "Louie, Louie" they changed it to 'The Statler Brothers', a name that lasted for the rest of their career. They once remarked they got the name 'Statler' off a box of tissue they had seen in a hotel room.

Alright. Shuttin' up now boss.

Kind of a bluesy rendition of an old standard. Beautiful. Thanks Unk.

Yep, Jerry, it is an old, old standard...just about every singer covers it as some point. Something about the melody and words that get to me. I have it downloaded on iTunes covered by Andy Griffith, Burl Ives, Emmylou Harris, Jack White (from Cold Mountain Album), Johnny Cash, Maria McKee, and the Tony Rice Unit......Tony Rice does a good job with it...I also like the Jack White version.

T.J. should enjoy this Tony Rice version, 'cause it's Blues Grassy.

Thanks Jerry, I do. I have that CD. In his day, there was NOTHING that Tony Rice could not do. He is still one of the all-time great guitar players but his singing days are over. A real loss to music.

Hey Jerry, how'd you manage to find that one? It's only half the song and recorded by someone in the audience who put it up on iTunes.
