All About Pocket Knives

There's some mighty fine knives in this topic, all my knives are whittlers but these fit the pattern as it's known. My grandpa called this style of knives a carpenters knife.

Great display bighomer. What brand is the second one from top on the right. It looks like a cattle knife whittler.

Biggie H, now you're talkin' my language. I might have one or two of those Camillus 72s and their clones. Although the Scout version of the Camillus 72 was sold as a 1047. Notice it doesn't have a pattern number stamped on the back of the master blade.

Yeah I'll just bet you got 1 or 2, you mal-howling about how great they are is the reason I got those, that ole 72 is about wore out ,but the 1047 is mint(imo) my poor photo don't do it justice.They are great little knives. I keep an eye out for'em when the price is right.

Me, "mal-howling"? I don't know what that is. I've never heard that term. That come from down in your neck of the woods?

Yeah Jerry I had a old aunt and if someone got bragging on something she' d say " quit yore mal-howling now hush up", she say the same thing if somebody was complaining about something. All my folks were pore ole country people with very little edication and they had their on way of saying things.I try to keep some of it alive in a joking way.

I have one of those big RR whittlers. Not a bad knife at all, and I really like how it has a full on sheepfoot blade instead of a coping blade.

Mel, there's a rumor going around that those last two ain't even whittlers.

I'm calling this my Backblade Lockback Whittler. I have no idea what Parker called it. I just bought this from Kalab and I'm carrying for a while. ___Dave

I'm a little light on whittlers but I did manage to pick up one of the nicest I've seen to pad my collection recently.

Pretty bones, cool etch. One of my favorites patterns. Rock solidly built.

Thanks! I was inspired to pull out some (most ) of my other whittlers to take some photos. My cat was inspired to make that as difficult as possible.
My first ever whittler, a green jigged bone Hen & Rooster.

A large Puma half-whittler, ca. 1970s as near as I can tell.

From the biggest to the smallest: Robeson Mastercraft split-back whittler in blue jigged bone, a 200 piece short run. My only split-back and my only swell-center. I have carried this before...in a slip.

Did I mention I really like the 6355WH?

No sense of self-preservation whatsoever. And definitely not a good candidate to sit still for a portrait.
