Right you are Tommy. But among the short line 72's the very oldest have the little coping blade on the bottom. I think I said that right. Below are a couple of pics for comparison.

Beautiful knives Floyd! ::tu:: I Love em! ::tu:: Those 72's are really very cool knives & they would make perfect EDC's but I can't seem to find any over here. I'll keep searching till I find one. ::tu::
But no more buying knives for me this month. I'm way over my limit already.

Stupid question. Does the term "short line" refer to the overall length of the knife or to a "short line" on the tang stamp? Sorry. Maybe I have asked this before but I can't remember. ::dang::

Tommy there is an older one but very rare. I didn't know they existed until I ran across one on ebay. I checked with Jerry and Vit and they confirmed that there is also a no line tang stamp. Earliest used after the war before they went to the short line. They are very scarce, I'm glad to have stumbled across this one.

Not a stupid question Tom. It refers to the short line on the tang stamp. I think there are examples of all but the no line in the Research forum at the top of the page. ::nod:: ::nod::

The "modern" (post 1945) Camillus tang stamp had 5 variations.

A short line under "Camillus"
No line under "Camillus"
A long line under "Camillus" that ran the entire length of the word "Camillus" (most common)
(per Vit I forgot this one) A long line under "Camillus" that ran the entire length of the word "Camillus" and "Camillus" is italicized.
A double line, one on top of Camillus and the other beneath Camillus.

Extremely impressive collecting Floyd! I really enjoy these types of pictures with similar knives lined up in rows! Brings out the kid in me. Feel like a kid in a toy store. Only one thing has stayed the same, leaving empty handed. ::facepalm::
Thanks for the pictures though! ::tu:: ::super_happy::

Tom, seems like at first if it was a knife I wanted it. But as in most things you develope a preference after awhile and get a little more focused. I think, at least for me, that is more satisfying. I've noticed with you that pen knives are showing up more in your post. Just keep enjoying what you have. Thanks. ::tounge:: ::handshake::

Good observing Floyd and yes, as U2 said..., "I still haven't found, what I'm looking for."https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e3-5YC_oHjE
But, I'm getting closer. I know several brands I prefer & a few that I don't. I also know that I like smaller to mid sized knives. I like whittlers, stockmans, barlows, trappers & pens. I like bone & stag. I mean I like all knives of course, but I am slowly learning what I want to buy & own that will satisfy my beast the most. ::tu:: I really like those 72's and 72 clones, and I really like case knives as well. The first ones I can't get here, the second ones I can't afford here. ::dang:: So, I just buy stuff. ::doh:: LOL! ::super_happy::
