Here is the other Watchman Brother knife I ordered. A medium trapper #W005.
Not a lot of info about the materials used. It appears to me that the blades
are Stainless with no half-stops and nickel silver bolsters and shield. I think
the handles are made of simulated jigged bone. The brass pins stick out above
the surface of the handle so you can feel them with your finger or in the palm
of your hand. It's not a bad knife and will make a good EDC.

I received my first Higonokomi pocket knife in the mail today!
The blade is a little more stiff than I had imagined, but this is a nice, solid little friction folder. It is 3-1/8" long, minus the blade lever; 4" if I include it.
I never really thought much about these until I saw those that Tony Wood had built. His are very impressive! I wanted to get my hands on a cheap one in case I can get the chance to build my own someday.
This one was cheap enough, and very sharp!

No that bothers me, but I can easily fix the pins. Chances are I won't carry the knife, it will just be a part of my collection.

Thanks for that info David. The way it read in your OP it sounded like you liked that you could feel the pins, and I thought that unusual because most folks prefer a smooth finish, but you've now explained it so I get it. Thx again!

Another great looking pick-up, David. You always manage find a lot of very cool, good quality & relatively inexpensive knives--which seems to be getting harder and harder to do these days (the inexpensive part, that is). Very impressive!

PS--What is the closed length of that medium trapper?

Great pick up, Rev. I think you'll find it to be a very handy little knife for a myriad of uses.
The Higonokami pattern is folding cutlery minimalism at its most basic and essential. I have one that I use as my office knife to open packages, cut tape, etc. I've had it for years and only had to sharpen it (lightly) once...they hold an edge like nobody's business.

Thank you Sir, it is 4.13" and the blades are 2.99" Those are the manufacture's spec's.

1st is a CRKT M16, I've had a smaller version for a couple years. I liked the knife but hated the 2 step locking system. This one is much simpler with just a frame lock. Next up is a Rough Ryder single blade trapper with red saw cut bone and and a bolster lock which is a first for me.

The small lower section of the bolster is connected to a liner lock.

I like the design of those bolster locks. I have an A.G. Russell Cattaraugus toothpick with a bolster lock. I think I remember Charlie posting that Robeson did bolster locks back in the day.

Two NOS Henckels both made after 1975 when Henckels ceased production and subsequently had their knives made by Boker. Interestingly, Henckels stipulated that Boker must use better material and better F&F than either Boker or Henckels had been using. Boker achieved this and the result is that the Henckels/Boker knives are clearly among the highest quality knives Boker has produced. It is my understanding that the Henckels production ended at Boker about 5 or 6 years ago.

This is a premium stag Canoe. Not only is the stag of the highest quality, but the hafting is flawless.

Next is a MOP Copperlock. Unfortunately, my photos do not reveal the superb fire of the pearl which is imbued with silver and pink.
