Anyone of you gently, gracefully aging members remember the old TV series "Rat Patrol".
My version without the 50 cal and old desert jeep...
Ya know. Old school version of the ring doorbell and camera system because video may not be required when the dust settles. Canine vocalization followed by real loud deafening pop(s) if deemed fit to the human carrying projectile firing tool, whom analyzes said vocal alert from trusted canine, whom then decides if a lead spray bath or pill at high velocity, is required.
Only part that sucks is earth excavation via long hand tool with wide metal on end, drive to the desert and associated housekeeping. If not done right, associated paperwork is most painful aspect. Amen.
Anyone know the price is a bag of lye these days with inflation and all? Asking for a friend...

Your dogs are looking fine, Jerry; relaxed and content. [I remember the Rat Patrol. The main actor was seriously hurt when his jeep flew a little too high. Injuries stayed with him till the end of his life; he died young.]

Thanks Garry my friend. Yes, me content and amused with a cooler of Modelos and some pork ribs on smoker (check cookbook thread in 15 minutes if inclined. Just came off smoker) and my two best friends as pictured. What it's all about on a hot summer day.
Never knew that about Rat Patrol. That's tragic.
Loved that show.
Have a good day Brother!

I used to have a Lab mix. He would eat just about anything that wasn't a lime or a green Necco wafer.
Here's a photo.of Bluegrass that I took for the other forum I frequent. He prefers multi-tools with one-paw opening.

Cute pets, Paul, SB Willie, Jerry and Dan.
This is Rooster, my brother's Australian Heeler. He's very active but sweet. However, he doesn't like when someone messes with the calves, he gets nippy. He was supervising my lunch break, might have gotten a bite or two of roast beef.

Great looking dog John.
Seen some dogs moving cows on some mountain roads alot lately. Cowboy comes along and moves them off road for us with his dogs.
Dogs allow 2 chances coaxing for them to move than it is teeth to leg latch and they move. Amazing to watch.

I have seen that exact video before, not sure when or where.
But ... it seems the discussion was the bulls having been loaded up many times before,
hence the ease of the job. Almost as though the bulls were kinda trained, too.
Still fairly smart dogs though ...

These two girls are earning their keep once again. Sophie was pawing at the plumbing access door by the bathtub. I removed the door to see what was going on and saw that she could hear that there was water dripping under the tub from a failed seal. Annabelle ( black and white unit) is a deadly killer of any spider that gets in the house. Earlier this week she swatted a spider off the wall and pounced on it resulting in 8 broken legs going 8 different directions. If the spider gets up the wall or on the ceiling, she will meow loudly at it until I come with the flyswatter.

Cool cats OC. Earning their rent!
That interesting John! This was more crude yet effective. Dogs looked at him for command. He whistled and gestured with an arm swing direction he wanted cows moved. Up a 45 degree hill it is. Dogs barked and bit and cows went up.
Not winning any show awards or style points but effective nonetheless! Kinda like me!

Boji, as a longtime Lab owner I can relate - theyâll eat just about anything! We currently have two of them. If given a hamburger, fully dressed with all the veggies, they will somehow eat the bun, cheese and meat patty but leave the lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles etc untouched, looking as if they were never on the burger. How they manage that using just their mouth and tongue, and without fingers is an unsolved mystery.

My parents told me a similar story about our Irish setter (who I don't remember well, as she entered the family before I was born). They could wrap up a pea in a slice of Velveeta cheese. Every time, the cheese would be eaten, and the pea was spit out.

Mine would eat it all. The only thing I have found she will not eat is plain lettuce. But put ranch or Caesar dressing on it and sheâd eat a bowl full. Grandkids have tried to find things she wonât eat and that is it. Even eats radishes and celery. Her favorite veggie is raw carrots.

We had a black Lab and my mom gave him some meatloaf that was about to go bad, it just happened to have a green bean in with it. 15 minutes later the green bean was all that was left in the bowl.

When I leave Shadow home alone anything that suggests food has to be put away. There is a very long list of things she ate that she shouldnât have.
She does NOT like to be left home!

Surprised it took that long! Based on the way ours eat, about 15 seconds would have been my guess.
Our Labs are from a kennel where puppies go through a program they call âpuppy head-startâ training. Starting while puppies they are trained to âsit for their supperâ and not eat until given permission to do so. (I reinforce this daily when I feed them). https://www.duckhillkennels.com/headstart-programhttps://duckhillkennels.smugmug.com/Puppy-Head-Start (click on any or all of the pictures, each is a short video showing different phases of training). These techniques can typically be used to train any puppy regardless of breed. Itâs interesting to see our dogs mimicking these behaviors years after being trained.
We can leave food on the coffee table or anywhere within easy reach but they will not eat it unless itâs given to them with permission to eat it. (They might accidentally knock it off with their tails though! )
The training they receive at the kennel is âgood canine citizenâ behavior. For example they will not come in or go out a door unless told itâs okay. âSitâ means sit there until released - no need for a âstayâ command - itâs implicit. And so on. Well worth waiting a few weeks and paying a little extra before picking up your puppy IMHO.

Sounds like very good training Ken. I recall Caesar Milan emphasizing that most people will require their dog to wait only a few seconds or moments when their dog's food is ready. He recommended getting a dog to regularly have to wait 5 or 10 minutes after the food is placed in his bowl.
