If you're a Camillus 72 hound and don't have one of the Yellow-Jaket's with the Yellow-Jaket shield yet, there's one on eBay right now. These don't come up for auction very often so it's worth your consideration.

I saw that one Jerry, fortunately I already have one. But they do seem to be something of a prize. Thanks.

It's a month long auction. Maybe someone will see this who wants one and doesn't have one.

That one is as hard to find as the three 1990's bone handle editions.

Jerry I think I have the plane black one on the way. I'll know when it gets here. Also have a hammer brand on the way.

Floyd, in my opinion, that plain black bone edition is the most difficult to acquire.

Jerry...I now

have you to blame, for owning this knife,
I've picked up about ten different 72 versions. Based on your assessment, I offered the guy $50 (he had it listed at $65) and he took it. I'd never looked at this knife before...but this one appears unused, with some minor speckling on the blades. Can't say the picture did a whole lot for me...but in hand, this is a very good looking knife, the bee is very crisp and clear.

I happily shoulder the blame Doc. You got yourself a good one there.

Doc, that is a really good score. I looked a while before finding one. Excellent.
I fished the elusive plain black bone out of the bay the other day. Pretty much new. I was surprised again that I was the only one bidding. One I had really been looking for so glad to get it.

Floyd, there are several of the Camillus "specials" that I have yet to see one that appears to have had any use. The three 1990's black bones, the Yello-Jaket with the yellow jacket shield, the white 1047 (1980-1984) BSA variety, the McGrew's, the Remington's, the Stanley's and there are a couple more but I can't remember which ones right now.
Congratulations on getting that black bone. They are quite elusive and that bone is gooood.

Thanks for the comments Jerry. I don't have them out but from memory I would agree that the knives you have mentioned that I have all do seem to be unused. I have all that you mentioned but the Stanley. Interesting as to the reason.

Hi Dave, that tang stamp suggests that the knife is from 1989-2007. But the blade configuration is not right for a "later" 72. I agree with Floyd's assessment of using up spare parts. Still, a VERY nice Camillus 72.

The picture below is my "late" pattern, Camillus 72 for comparison purposes.

Its no doubt they were made toward the end of Camillus. I've see more of the Camillus made Remington R14 clones with this blade configuration. I might add this knife does not have a 72 stamped on the pile side of the master blade.

Strange but true, I've got a Camillus 72 with the 72 stamped on the master blade tang, but no Camillus maker stamp on any tang.
