All About Pocket Knives

I found these two "ALLEN" pocket knives with just a general Google search.
I'm posting them for posterity and for future reference.
Both "ALLEN" pocket knives have two blades. One "ALLEN" is maker stamped on the handle.
The other "ALLEN", if there is a stamp or stamps, I can NOT see it or them.
These knives are NOT mine. These pictures are NOT mine.
They have NOT been edited, altered or enhanced by me, except for size.

After carefully weighing the evidence that I have managed to obtain, I am 99.999% positive that I have an EXACT address for the ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY, NEWBURGH N.Y. (1917-1925) That address (now) is 68 Wisner Avenue, Newburgh N.Y.
Properties or addresses in that part of Newburgh were NOT "numbered" back then.

The following was taken out of the FULL response that I received from the Newburgh Historical Society.
It was in regards to an inquiry that I made about the ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY.
If you wish to read it, the WHOLE inquiry that I made AND the WHOLE response to that inquiry was posted,
by me, back on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

....."The railroad connection is true. A west end spur of the Erie Railroad ran behind Wisner Avenue (a few hundred yards back from the roadway) south to north to reach the Dupont Company which had been in business since 1901. Dupont Company was north of the intersection of Wisner and Dupont Avenue, streets still in the same configuration today."

"It has been a long held popular belief that Newburgh, New York only had the one cutlery or knife manufacturing company. That one cutlery or knife manufacturing company was called the ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY. They existed from 1917 to 1925. While I was looking for things to post under this "Knife Lore....." forum, under the "Knives in the news" topic, I found this article. It was in a September 23, 1947, Newburgh, N.Y. newspaper. It announced a new factory opening, "The Newburgh Metal Manufacturing Company." In the first picture, near the end of the second paragraph, we get our first clue, ".....of toy aluminum cutlery." In the second picture, near the end of the second paragraph, we get our second and final clue, "Next spring, they plan to produce a new type patented pocket knife." The third picture is a small teaser that I found when I did a very general Google search. This should be fun, but probably will end up being a frustrating investigation. Still, to find a pocket knife that was made by this manufacturer, if any were actually produced, talk about a "grail" knife!! Let the fun begin.....!!"

Part 2, today, August 24, 2022.
Yesterday morning, my trip to the post office produced this pocket knife. It is most DEFINITELY, 100%, NOT an ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY pocket knife. I am 99.999% positive that this pocket knife WAS NOT manufactured by THE NEWBURGH METAL MANUFACTURING COMPANY. I am also 99.999% positive that this pocket knife WAS NOT manufactured in Newburgh. It was probably made by a well known, established cutlery company, located in New York, the Northeast (U.S.) region or possibly Europe (Germany?). I am NOT going to just assume that it was made by SCHRADE. I'm guessing that it was made for a retail type or hardware store. It has two blades, two tang stamps and measures 3 5/8" closed. The tang stamps are the same on both blades and they both say "NEWBURGH (over) (N. Y.) (over) KNIFE CO." I can NOT find any other markings. I did NOT buy this pocket knife for the actual knife, I bought it for the tang stamps. But overall, this pocket knife is in pretty GOOD condition with very good half stops and very good snap, both blades, both ways. The three pictures mentioned in my original post are combined into one picture, the last picture posted here. Besides the tang stamps and the handle stamps on the ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY pocket knives, this is the only other pocket knife that I've seen, where "NEWBURGH, N.Y." is on the blade(s) tang stamp(s), AND NOT as an advertisement or as part of an advertisement on a pocket knife. I have NO evidence that leads me to believe that Newburgh ever had more than ONE pocket knife company and that pocket knife company was the ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY.

I bought this pocket knife because it is a "cousin" of the Allen Cutlery Company, the Eagle Knife Company, the G. Schrade Knife Company and the other cutlery companies that manufactured pocket knives of a similar, simple, pattern or style. I gave it a minor cleaning. It is in VERY GOOD condition. I took some pictures and here it is.

Very nice knife and interesting lock.

That one does look especially nice, Skip. It is hard to believe that it is that old! I am glad that it has been so well preserved and cared for.

Nice find Skip! I had to do some googling to see what Golden-Brent was. Looks like it was a clothing brand, and that Montgomery Wards sold clothing under the Brent name with the same triangles logo. I enjoy advertising knifes, it’s a shame it’s all just pens and junk now that companies do. I wonder what the price of these knives were then and how they compare in price with inflation to high end advertising pens now?

actually looks like an enclosed M (Montgomery) over an enclosed W (Ward).

It is a G SCHRADE, single blade, cap lifter or bottle opener handle, 3" closed, one tang stamp, all metal, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "G. SCHRADE - KNIFE CO. INC. - B' PORT, CT. - U.S.A." Overall, this is my fourteenth pocket knife in this pattern or style. This is my second pocket knife, in this pattern or style, that advertises this particular product. The main handle side says "MORE FLAVOR FOR YOUR MONEY SunCrest." The other side says "SunCrest MORE FLAVOR FOR YOUR MONEY." I bought this pattern or style of pocket knife because it is a "cousin" of the Allen Cutlery Company, the Eagle Knife Company and some other cutlery companies that manufactured pocket knives of a similar, simple, pattern or style. ALL of them are posted throughout this topic or thread. It is in VERY GOOD condition. I cleaned the blade a little. I took some pictures and here it is.
