Jethro, the facial expression on your avatar is very appropriate for a haul like that. Very nice batch of knives. Will you be selling some of those in your AAPK store?

Dan, I'll be letting go of the majority. This haul was a real rescue, 95% of these knives were stored loose in an old partially rusted tool box. A few of the knives are in bad shape, fortunately, most are in great shape. All need a lil' TLC. It would take me forever to really give them the attention they deserve.
Quite a variety. Some gems, some duds, and everything in between. Even a handful of counterfeits for the junk drawer.
Some of the first toes & cheetah's I've had the pleasure to come across. The red bone cheetah will be the first to get cleaned up. It could have the keenest edge that I've ever seen. Very nice knife.
Sorry Tim, chew a couple aspirin, & it'll pass.

Nice haul Jethro! Looks like you have some fine knives in there.
I am sure you know this but that Case Classic with the Candy Stripe handles, ask your neighbor if they will store it for you. Possible gasser. I personally think it depends on year made and batch as some seems stable and some will self destruct taking whatever knives it can with it.
Looks like tha reddish bone Cheetah is a USA or possibly a XX. Hard to tell with the pic. Maybe I can save you the trouble of cleaning those Cheetahs up.
PM Sent.

Thanks Jerry, & yes, that candy stripe is bad news. Shows signs on the bolsters already, however, the Old Yellow same pattern is unaffected. Maybe something about the color used in the candy stripe causes them to go faster.
PM returned.

Posted this in another thread with a bunch of recent acquisitions but figured I'd put it on here as well.It is(I believe)a 3172 Tested. The scales are warped and de-laminating and there is the usual pitting but the blade seems relatively full compared to a couple of later ones I own.The scales seem to be made in 3 layers:the top later is/was what looks to be a cream or ivory color. They are degrading and cracked like celluloid but I'm not seeing the tell tale rust on the blade or the brass liners corroding. The second layer seems to be a very white layer and the bottom looks almost like imitation tortoise shell that was made from horn.
I was torn between leaving it as is or re-handling it and decided that I will leave it as is for now.Kind of hard to figure the actual price as I got nine other knives as well, but if interested I posted the story in the General Forum under the title:Trading for knives.

I swore I would stay away from Case, but could not help myself
being a novice knife accumulator Case is a world on to itself, with so many varables, so here I am to learn and admire
recent pick up, cause I love red bone, Case XX, 1940-1964, 61024 and a half

Congrats on a really nice find! The old Case XX era red bone is as good as it gets. There are some makers that rival it but none better. As it wears in the pocket it gets even better, IMHO.
