here is one from southington over 100yrs old. just got it today from aapk member trade!!! trading is the best
anyway this is before i clean it up..if i do. it snaps harder then any other hawkbill i have ever owned or held.definetly take a finger or two. no liner locks on these puppies.

do the handles looked replaced? i would think they would have been being this old.

nice one pete, handles look right to me. Just cause a knife is old don't mean it's been fooled with

Well I am getting closer to my holy grail, slowly but surely. I managed to land a J. Russell hawkbill today with bear trap snap, truely a piece of work. very full blade. Also ran across this venter H.M Slater hawkbill too from sheffield.

one thing im learning about hawks,it seems the older the better.also the older the easier to chomp a finger off.

here is a pretty scarce one KA-BAR with Union Cut Co. Back tang with bone handles.

Just reviewing this great thread. This Wostenholm is circa 1930s. s-k

Just found this thread, some nice knives shown here.

Here is one that I have.

Marked J. Nowill & Son`s Sheffield, Pre 1890 manufacture, rat tail bolsters, tapered backspring, rosewood handles, blade face stamped "Greenwich Inlaid".

The condition is like new, except for a few scratches on the blade, never cleaned or polished!

1. H. Boker & Co's Improved Cutlery Hawkbill (circa 1869 - 1914).

2. Boker Hawkbill with a birdseye top rivet. Tang stamp is an x that has an arrow through it with the letters M & R below the arrow and then Boker at the bottom (circa 1850 - 1875).

That bottom hawkbill is SWEET!!!

Goins’ guesstimates the date on that tang stamp as 1850-1875!

In pretty good condition for a 135+ year old knife!

Gotta stick my 3 cents worth in a "Hawkbill" thread. They are my favorite pattern. Here are 48 on display in the cave. I used to EDC one but they are a bit bulky in the pocket, but IMHO, they are the most useful of all blades. J.O'.

FRJ: I have a Maher & Grosh that is very similar to your Walden.Maybe Walden was the jobber? They are built like tanks and hold a razor edge. J.O.
