blades look good ,not to much sharpening the wrong way

..Been trying to clean it up some.

Here are a few old knives.
The first two present some interesting lore.
The DERBY SILIVER Co. fruit knife was the first I purchased. Originally, I thought that it was made in the 1880's in Derby Conn along the banks of the Housatonic. Latter I saw the Holley MFG. Co. and realized my error. It appears that the Derby Silver Company contracted the job out to Holley.
The second pair of fruit knives are from the Meriden Britannia Co. from West Meriden Conn. They might date to the the 1880's or early 90's?
Each knife is 3"

Here is one I got a while back that belongs in this thread.

Swan Works-Germany, 3-3/4" closed.

Imperial Magic Knife

I haven't found much lately but these three really made my year. Three advertisers for the same product that obviously span decades. The top one is just stamped Sheffield and is stamped letters with printed ruler and the most recent production. The one in the middle is a Westby (the oldest one I think), and the bottom is an Ibberson with a patent number. I suspect the patent is for the locking ruler joint and the assembly of the knife is a bit different from all my other ruler knives like this including the Ibbersons. All are perfect and unused.







Last is a Footprint tools Domino brand with the Footprint stamp on the tangs. It has a small single feeler gauge on one end and a square punch too. A real shame the blade is broken.





I also found another small letter opener in solid nickle but with no advertising on it. All the others I'v found in this pattern had some kind of advertising on them.

Neat group of very interesting knives.

Robert -- I love those folding rulers and the ruler knives. They are just too cool for school.


I understand these are not what the OP had in mind when he set up this thread but these are all metal handles and in my mind, qualify to be here.
In addition to the Kershaw Leeks, Scallions, etc, here are a few more I've picked up since the last time I posted.

A couple of Richards. I love that street lamp tang stamp.
This custom Soileau was picked up in a roundtable exchange. This Lilly Imperial came from one of my best friends whose brother was a salesman for Eli Lilly for years.
I've also acquired a 1937 and a 1948 addition to my Miracle Whip collection.

One thing for sure that Buck IS too cool for school.Whats the model # ???

The Buck is the 297RDS (RD stands for red of course. The 'S' probably stands for Sirus.). Made in the USA, it's heavy duty and solid as a rock. The spring assist is quick and the blade opens "with authority". You know you have something in your hand when you pick it up. It just has that "feel" of quality. It's a liner lock and the blade safety lock is much more handy than the blade safety lock on a Kershaw.

That Eli Lilly knife was given away to MD's. That little curved blade was to perform tracheotomies. I think the knife originally came in a little plastic box and included a metal cannula to insert in the trachea.

Charlie, you are a wealth of knowledge. Fascinating information about the Imperial. I never would have guessed the purpose of that curved blade.
