Thanks Mark, been waiting a long time for one in this condition. Most of them found previously had chipped handles, etc.
Had to pay more than I wanted, but but the one I wanted was available.

I've been watching those daggers for a minute, Tony, and I've yet to see the price go down by much, a bit here and there but not really much; it's a timeless knife and will very likely command the prices it's getting for it's existence. I also have overpaid for a piece, but I've always maintained, I'll only be here once and perhaps not much longer, so I'm going to enjoy my self and my possessions, and I've got a room full of knives to prove it. Grant it, I'm in a unique situation regarding funds, but anyone can make adjustments to their finances for something they desire so much, IMO, but what do I know!

If one has the 1007 Trooper, they have to have the Special Agent with it, in my opinion. As you know, my reasons for collecting are what I like first, and secondly, for an investment. That is why I always buy near mint/mint knives for my collection. I have many knives I use, purchased at low cost or traded for through my business. They don't have the same value to me. Their value is use, but I do like them also. Long story short ... I sell knives, and I am always looking for a deal. However, the best time to get a grail knife is when it is in front of you and have the funds available. Paying a little more occasionally is part of it, but there are other occasions when "Wow, I got a deal"!

I just re-read that thread. A great insight to old knives and knife collectors.

I have a new Holy Grail knife and maybe someone here can help me locate one. It’s a Challenge Cutlery brass stamped handle knife exactly like the ones attached to this post. Finding the copper and nickel silver variations came fairly early in my collecting history but the brass one has eluded me. Scoutknives (Mike) has a very fine example but it’s not for sale. Anyone know of one for sale?

Here is my holy grail. Just took delivery of this GEC 99 with Wharncliffe blade, stag handles. Been searching for a while. Thanks Nate! I was dieing to get it and of course USPS had to take an extra 5 days. I only buy knives that speak to me and have several that make me smile but not like this one.

Beautiful knife, Rick, I had the model with blue bone covers for awhile, but a member here was so excited about the knife that I bombed it to him, and have regretted it since! lol! I still have my very similar A. Wright "Senator" model with stag covers, but the blue on the GEC was simply outstanding. Great knife, enjoy it!

Anything made by Hattori is on my Grail List. I got my Trooper from KershawGuy.com out in Oregon.
Dave is a really great guy to deal with. I have purchased several Hattori made Kershaws from him.
Your first two knife purchases were Excellent Choices!

I bought this knife about 35 years ago from Tom Maxim , had a lot of offers but no sale!
