Ahh, so you must be a young feller then. 'Cause if you were my age, it would have been "Professional Wrestling" every Saturday night on the TV.

My user name comes from a co-worker who liked using nick-names. It is based on my initials, first initial "J", second and third initials "B". So instead of JBB, he squared the "B"s. If I could have used the square root symbol, a small "2", I would have made it that way.

Square root symbol --
Squared -- B² (hold down the alt key and using your ten key pad type 253)

Yeah, I meant squared not square root.

I knew there was a way to do it but I didn't know how. Also, I don't have the 10 key pad on my laptop.
Thanks Jerry,
JB

Yeah, I figured that was just a slip of the tongue. I wasn't thinking (again). I shouldn't have posted that.
Just one more reason I'm not enamored with laptops.

Don't worry about me, I have thick skin. You will have try a lot harder than that to offend me. We have some laptops with the key pad, but the one I use doesn't.

Smoke was a great Oglala Sioux chief, noted for stealin' horses. He was extra proud of his 4th son and gave him his name. The whites didn't understand and called 'em Old Smoke and Young Smoke. I am an old grey-beard that chain smoked 'til recently.

Yea' I actually used to worked for the construction company that built the Three Stooges Museum in Pennsylvania.
And was involved in helping build it.
I actually held some of the original artifacts while helping with the displays.

I have used my user name for 15 years or more online. My middle name is Newton, I am named after my dad who was named after a blind attorney in west Ky., that was a friend of the family. I was trying to come up with an email address when my son came up with daddynewton. It is just easier to keep using it than to try and come up with a new one. I enjoy this site and appreciate all that contribute so much. See you around Charlie

How in the world I managed to overlook this particular thread I cannot imagine. It is truly an interesting line of thought.
I am an old goat! This was a sideband cb handle from way back in the '80's. The 1911 comes from my alltime favorite sidearm, the Colt 1911 45 acp. I was a Deputy Sheriff, firearms instructor and amorer for 22 years. This is a great forum and I am proud to have met you all here...Herb

Very cool Herb!
Sounds like a rewarding and respected career. Been eyeballing a Colt 1911 lately to pickup.

Herb -- Linnea bought this fridge magnet for me more than a decade ago. Does this mean I qualify for the "Old Goats Society"?
BTW, the 1911 is also my favorite.

Guys if you can relate to 1911 style pistols, you automatically qualify for old goat, you just have to be willing to claim it or admit it...Herb

Before I was married and was blessed with 2 great sons I owned and operated a couple of bait and tackle shops in New England under the name "The Country's Best Gear". My customers grew to call me bestgear so hence my user name. It's no small coincidence that all of my gear is the best because life is too short to compromise!

I just went through 18 pages as I thought I had posted here before but unless I missed it(not hard for me)here goes:
Nothing too complicated. A friend of mine used to get really aggravated when people asked him to spell his name(it was L-I-M-O-N )and he would always tell them it was L-I-7-M-O-N and that the 7 was silent. I liked it and adopted it as people would ask me the same thing (mine is Smith! go figure!)and that is what I would tell them. I also adopted it for my e-Bay name(the7issilent).Just having fun and people rarely forget it.

Was a Surveyor for years but now I do that part time.
These days I'm working at Costco in their "Produce" department.
That's how I came up with "Producer"

My real name is Jerry. I notice there are a number of AAPK members named Jerry.
Ralph Alsip was a neighbor and role model for me growing up in Southern Illinois in the 60's and 70's. We lived in the country with a very self sufficient rural lifestyle (big garden, milk cow, chickens, hogs, etc.). Ralph introduced to me to knife trading, as well as arrowhead hunting, ginseng hunting, raccoon hunting and various other wholesome pursuits that I dearly miss. Ralph was a WW II veteran with an injured leg, but far from disabled. I learned a lot from Ralph. It takes lot of perseverance for a 10 year old boy to carry a toe sack full of possums and raccoons through the woods at night

. Ralph was the epitome of perseverance. Ralph was well-known for his hound dogs. Ralph used the ginseng to make a special cold remedy and cough syrup. In addition to ginseng, Ralph's "medicine" contained honey, lemon, and a generous portion of Southern Comfort. Ralph took his medicine both to cure a cold and prevent

a cold. He let me try it and I wasn't able to appreciate it as much as he did.
After I moved away from home to make my mark on the world, I lost connection with folks like Ralph and hobbies like knife collecting. Somehow I managed to hang onto some knives and arrowheads from back then even with all of the moving around I have done. A favorite saying of my dad's was that the good ole days weren't always so good, but I certainly have a much deeper appreciation now of where I came from than I did when I was there. In the past couple of years, I have re-engaged in knife and arrowhead collecting with great pleasure.
I wish Ralph could see my knife collection now. Or maybe not - he would probably skin me out of a few of them
So the short answer is that I chose my user name for nostalgic reasons.
