hey pen, what are you talking about and what does it have to do with the multitool?

I was saying if you look at the link you just posted. The fifth row....one up from the sixth row where the corkscrew-multitool is, there are some funny looking Lady leg corkscrews and POCKET KNIVES!

back to the thread, steve look at the similarity of the knife at the museum and your multitool.

Thanks alot for that link Johnnie . The mulit-tool looks very similar.... on the top half at least. I'd like to have the version with the corkscrew and foil cutter as shown there. s-k

Just a hunch but I think it was used to open and close cigar boxes.Here are a couple of tools used for that purpose but not as specialized.The old cigar boxes were sealed with a tax stamp and the lid was held down by a small tack.The tool has a sharpened edge for slitting open the stamp prying up the lid.The notch is used to remove the tack.The hammer is for tapping down the lid.
I have a very large wooden cigar box that held about 300 cigars.It is now used to hold small knives.I believe it was once held shut with wire which could account for the pliers on the tool.
