Outstanding Wharncliffe, especially the red '07 Forum

Here is my small collection of seahorse whittlers, a mini-trapper and a GEC Northfield #25 barlow.

Dale, I've been browsing the Onionated Kershaws since I saw some on another forum.
One of them, the centofante looks like it has a nice WH blade. Have it on a short list along with scallion & chive as my eventual 1st Kershaw.

Barry, no wonder you missed that mini copperhead hiding behind all those BIGGUNS!

Blue, the 109w I posted is item no. 00283 Pocket Worn Natural bone.
The naturals were not an advertised Pocket Worn series and all I've seen were in standard green box not the PW blue box.
Label does have PW in front of the module no. and the knives did receive the special PW hand finishing.
Kind of bright day of the pic, so PW corn cobbin' not showing very well.

Mr. Magoo, that shadowbone mini is a new one on me, think I like it.
Haven't seen the hunter grn, just the autumn shadow bones.

I have some of those seahorse whittlers, Don. They are nicely designed knives. Waiting for one in CV though . . . . .

I think that is the right numbers….I am just learning Case numbers.

This is my favorite so far for the way it fits my hand, a #49W Copperhead.

Dale, looks like your 49w might be the PW natural version 49W.
If so, item no. is 00269. Seems to be a rare bird.
Lot more of the red & blue bone 49W around.

Here's a mini copperhead with I think Case calls harvest orange

Dale, yours is just second 00269 I've seen and other one was in the 'Bay.
That one had dark opaque area under 1/3 of front scale which made it appear, shall we say...less than ideal.
Yours looks more like the gray deposits possibly from whatever
hafting compound/sander Case uses. (haven't taken the TOUR yet)
A lot of the natural with red Case shield had that grayish tone.
The 2009 cCc Forum Knife is natural muskrat, I was able to clean most the gray off of that one.


As for value, you know how that goes. Supply and demand.
It might be even with only two surfacing, that may still exceed the demand.

I'm just watching for a white one to go w/my other two so I'll have a red white & blue 49W set.
For that I would like as flag white as possible.

I'd vote go ahead and do a redeaux in a handle you like.
Or at least sand it down a little more 'pocket worn' see if gray matter disappears.
If Case isn't going to finish a knife before they ship it, somebody's got to, right?

I just bought a GEC Northfield Executive Whittler from Collector Knives.Net. Bought the burnt stag listed as EDC, which means it has some minor blemish, but hey, it's an EDC. Can't wait to get it. Don't have a pic nor do I know what the blem is.

Here is one more recent acquisition, I guess I'm a sucker for the serpentine whittler pattern

I was told that the Seahorse Whittler was not made in the CV steel.
Was I misinformed?

That would be nice. I have a few Bulldog brand Warncliffe whittlers that are carbon steel and they are excellent knives. Thor model is 4 1/8 inches, Viking model is 3 7/8 inches, and the Seductress model is 3 1/8 inches. The Warncliffe blade is a little different but the frame is real similar to the Case Seahorse.

Beautiful knives you guys are showing, both the old, the not so old, and the new.

Robeson made a few patterns with a Wharnecliff master blade. I cannot think of one that used it as a secondary blade.

Here are two serpentine penknives. These two blades are referred to as Wharnecliffs quite often, but they do not really fit the design, in my opinion.

Also, a nice stag handled whittler with birdseye handle pins, and a two blade pearl with the same handle-die shape, and both have true Wharnecliff master blades.

Notice the "008" handle-die shape numbers on the last two knives. That would make both of these one of Robeson's older patterns.

AUS6A steel, thumb studs and single linerlock locks both blades.
Staminawood handles, s/n slanted bolsters.

Nice wosey I use one of those now and again.

Here is a Schatt & Morgan Dogleg Whittler I forgot I had (from series 18, PA brown berry worn worm groove bone, is what they call it...say that 10 times real fast.

Here's my third. Just got it today. Bought from Collector Knives. It was listed as an EDC which meant that there was a slight flaw in it somewhere but I can't find it unless it is the center pin on the back.

heres a 4" schrade cut co muskrat with a wharncliff. with a magnifying glass , i can make out a blade etch of "nning knife" on the clip blade. i believe its a "dailys skinning knife". pretty rare i think------brady
