All About Pocket Knives

From the Brian Sorensen collection, #0023 in 8670 high-carbon steel. The engraving was done using a Hermes pantograph engraver with no motor using a diamond scratch bit.

I woke up this Morning and slipped this one in my pocket.
And this is the last knife I purchased.

My 1st custom knife: a drop point hunter by Bill Zalesky of CT. Circa 1980. The dagger is also by him but has horn handles.

Getting a jump on monday ...

Got this out of a large collection of militaria a friend had purchased. He kept all the military stuff and sold off the rest. He would give me 1st pick of any knives.
Not sure what to make of this one. Blade looks hand made and pinned in position; handle is a one piece casting(?)with Micarta inserts.

Interesting knives posted today. I especially like that Wood, Irie & Co knife with its unusual opening mechanism.

This one is flawless

Fresh off the bench - I like the top one better, my instructor likes the bottom one better - constructive feedback sought.

it has taken ne some time to appreciate Micarta, and other like materials. But, I am coming to like it for some knives.

I like each one but for different reasons.
The longer, sweeping line on the top part of the Micarta on the top one is more graceful and visually interesting. But I think the "fuller" Micarta handle on the bottom one would probably make for a more comfortable grip. Nice pair of custom Cosgroves

I think the top one would look even better if the butt end was more pointed like the bottom one

great feedback Q....the sweeping line on the top one was paying homage to the Porsche 911 sweeping line - not sure I nailed it but that was the intention.

Looking good brother! Looks like your getting better with every knife. I love the blade grinds and the Cosgrove stamp, and would be leaning toward the second knife as well, due to the fuller grip that seems like it would fit better in hand. Great job on both!

thanks Kevin - I find it amazing how difficult it is to make 2 identical knives but I’m learning. Hand grinding blades and shaping covers is an art form for sure

Frederic Remington(United States Cutlery) etched blade with maroon Micarta scales. The slot in the bolster was where a piece of Micarta once resided. Japanese made in the 1980's.
