Curious ? Are the tang stamps on the 2 case collectors knifes from the Jim Parker era ? I find it strange that the red handled knife has the American flag shield and not a rebel flag

just my opinion that mods need to take down this post simply because it does not look good for the AAPK community and knife collecting in general. RED

Curious ? Are the tang stamps on the 2 case collectors knifes from the Jim Parker era ? I find it strange that the red handled knife has the American flag shield and not a rebel flag
No those are not from the “Parker era”. Those are probably “aftermarket” modifications. There are several companies that buy knives from Case, Buck, and others, then modify them including the handle covers, blade etch, packaging and in some cases documentation (COA, etc). Then they re-sell the embellished knives through various channels like SMKW, Deadwood knives among others. Just because a manufacturer name is stamped on a knife doesn’t mean the knife, as it currently appears, came that way from that manufacturer’s factory.
The practice has been going on for many years. At one time the aftermarket embellishments were akin to the “Wild West”. To protect their reputations, manufacturers warranties, etc some filed legal cease and desist orders against the larger “offenders”, trying to get some control. In many cases the parties were able to negotiate some mutually agreeable guidelines concerning business practices. However all the counterfeits we see should tell us it doesn’t take much to gin up some custom handle covers and put them on a knife, print some box labels etc and sell them.

Thank you for your reply.Here is a red case xx from my collection with what I believe has the same shield as the red klan knife .I can now see how easy it would be to add some sort of logo to the factory stockman ,add a blade etch , Stick the knife in a collector’s club box . Then market it to the unaware who thought the knife was direct from the factory as is .thank you for the enlightenment!

At a big outdoor antique flea market last week, I found (lumped in a box of miscellaneous old and new knives) a knife that Wayne described in this thread. It is a KKK "secret code" penknife made by Warwick Knife Co, and stamped on both blades. Many years ago, a fellow collector showed me one of these and I never forgot it. I always thought that maybe I would stumble on to one and be able to buy it right, since very few people, even knife collectors, would recognize it for what it is.
