tvic wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 9:32 pm Yes, that CAN be discouraging, TOPDOG! A refund is great, but when you’d really rather have the knife…. You know, I understand the seller should have sealed it up better, but what kind of treatment was that box getting by postal employees to look like that? And Priority Mail, too! And if the box disintegrated, and the contents fell out, couldn’t they slap another piece of tape on it? Apparently, someone saw the contents and wanted it! ::td::
You said it, Tim! ::nod:: .... I hope the seller gets his end covered by the postal insurance ($100 on that priority box). This looks like the fact is that whatever happened to the contents, happened while in "custody" of the USPS.... ::hmm::

::paranoid:: ... Tim, ::paranoid:: What could go wrong*? ::shrug:: ... ::hmm:: Pretty much everything in life goes smoothly for me.... ::skeptic:: ... ::paranoid::.... Such as ordering a Case XX hunter with bone scales for $80 on ebay? ::paranoid::

* this is how I found my "package" in the mailbox...... :x
That's beyond shameful, Dog, that's almost a crime. It's all good that you got a refund no questions asked, but I know for myself, when I get my heart set on a knife, the moment I've paid the money aspect is non-existent and I'm thinking about the knife. Getting a refund amounts to wasting everybody's time, the bitter thoughts will remain for a long time, whereas the refunded money is instantly forgotten.
When life kicks me in the teeth I try to remember, that while one door slammed shut, it was necessary so a new and better door could open up to me and it often does, so hang-in there and watch for something special coming your way in the not too distant future. My empathy is with you, buddy, 100%. ::handshake::

::handshake:: Thanks a lot Marco... It was a knife I was looking forward to throwing on the "pile" 😞 .... Oh well you are right "one door slammed shut, it was necessary so a new and better door could open up" ....👲

*Stealing packages is a felony, taking possession of a package or its contents is illegal. Federal law already treats the theft of mail and packages delivered by the U.S. Postal Service as a felony.

And so it should be, Dog, that package wasn't damaged like it was by normal everyday wear and tear by the USPS system, some of that damage could only be achieved with a sharp knife and plenty of time to work with. Freaking criminals. ::td::
I'm looking forward to seeing what fate brings you in return! ::hmm:: ::groove:: ::super_happy::

Those are the experiences that keep us going. All the frustrations in between are what makes the great "finds" special. And the friendships you make along the way are priceless. ::handshake::

Friends along the way, are the best part of this hobby. Harold
I absolutely have to agree with this.

Marco, ::hmm:: ...well maybe you really are some kind of all-powerful wizard... ::uc:: A wizard that can see into the future? ::skeptic:: ... Well... Fate has brought this beautiful RoseCraft Blades RCT008, Skinning knife ( ::paranoid:: Well... Fate with some help from Tony/Corn Creek Cutlery/CxIII)!

I guess as a dedicated knife collector, I do get discouraged sometimes... then along comes something truly awesome! ::hmm:: ..."And the friendships you make along the way are priceless." ::nod::

Thanks Fate! .... ::paranoid:: oh... and of course Tony!!!

That model is one of the nicest they produce, Dog, I've had my copy since shortly after they dropped. I'm too lazy to look up the numbers, but I'm assuming yours is the larger of the 2 offered, just like mine. Well, you've seen what a little faith can do, the trick now is to keep it going day after day, and with your built-in "funny" streak that should be easy for you. ::nod::
Enjoy your newest inspiration, and kudos to Tony once again, it looks good on both of you. ::handshake::

Thanks M&M ::handshake:: I am very impressed with the quality ::nod:: it reminds me of some of the old Seki-City stuff I had back in the 80's & 90's ... ::hmm::
