Oh what could be done with Case! Case is one of the best brand names in cutlery history. It doesn’t have to be revived, just returned to its glory days. I’d pay the employees their union wages and benefits, but only for quality workmanship. There would be about 30 more patterns in the product line, offered both in carbon steel and 440C or better. There would be stag, MOP, bone, and modern acrylics, micarta and G10, and the latest innovations in “tacticool” and automatics (now that manufacture of automatics is legal in Pennsylvania). And not being required to make a profit, the knives produced would be priced competitively with fine quality cutlery produced anywhere in the world. Until I went bankrupt, like Parker did.

How’s that for a “pipe dream”!

To the contrary, not all Case knives are the same. Those I’d make would be like those made during the Case Tested era. Top quality, having features like blade swages, with long pulls and half-stops where appropriate, no blade rub, etc. There are not a surplus of those around! Plus, as stated previously I would resurrect a lot of the discontinued old patterns that have not been made in decades.

I would start sticking to the basics. The first release would be contain 6 knifes .Barlow, peanut , mini trapper, trapper , stockman ,muskrat.. all handled in material from different price values .wood , synthetic, bone , stag , real pearl, mammoth so I could reach a few different customer bases .from low price everyday users (Like the old timer knifes, high Dollar collectibles (G.E.C ).all lines offered in the best carbon and stainless steel for blade options that I could find and buy or produce my Own blades independently..

Those patterns would be a great start, and with the different handle materials you mentioned would offer a lot of initial variety from those 6 patterns. Now, the name of your company on the tangstamp of your knives would be???

I’m unsure what Case considers to be vault patterns. Their “Vault Program” is a relatively recent phenomenon. Many of the patterns I would have made pre-date the “Vault” marketing scheme, so they’re unlikely considered vault patterns, just discontinued.

In my list would be several whittlers, including not only the more common 08 and 83 patterns, but also the 87 gunstock, 76-1/2 sleeveboard and 91 cigar. Some of the larger patterns like the 6100, the toothpicks, the 050 (large coke bottle), the switchblade “Zippers”, the 71 switchblade. Barlows, 99-1/2 “Railsplitter”, and several of the large stockmans and cattle knives (like the 047 and 45). The 94 gunboat and 94-1/2, and the large Congress. The possibilities are vast! Stag, modern acrylics, G10, micarta, with modern steels as well as traditional CV versions.

Tooling up the abandoned patterns would no doubt be expensive, but since we're dreaming that money is no barrier, I'd also be funding R&D for new designs including modern designs (automatics included).
