I see the big removeable pin that holds the spring in and is right below where the safety usually is, is your knife a copy of the Edge Co. "kit" knives from the 1980's that were sent without the spring installed and the customer installed it upon arrival? That big pin is usually an indication it's one of those.

It might be? It had bushings through the scales but I thought,”why”. I replaced them with a 2.8 mm brass pin straight through. It fit perfect. The safety would not work with my thick scales so I tossed it. It’s fine now,no hair trigger or anything like that ..

It might not be a kit knife. I believe they usually had a nail groove on the blade. I've got one I picked up a long time ago and has a hair trigger as well as built in blade peek.

The blue has advensurine I think they call it. It sparkles when you move it from side to side.

I added a .05 washer to the back side pivot to force the blade toward the sear and it worked.

I only filled the tooth to see if I could, not to save money.
I superglue cuts. Stitches are old fashioned.

Superglue is a knife mechanics best friend, though I relarely use it on a knife. Mostly I use it to glue my cuts closed. If it is a gaping cut I use steri-strips to close the wound, then I use the superglue. Saves many trips to the doc for sutures.

Glad things worked out Bill. I did some of my own dentistry once.

When i was in high school, my dentist put in braces. Hated those things. My dentist was my step mother's brother. He hated us and I sure did not like him.

One day, the main wire broke and was gouging into my cheek. Called the office and he said he'd get me in the following week. That was not very good.

I gathered some needle nose pliers and a small screw driver. Then smoked a bowl and had a couple of shots. Then I went to work.

I removed every single bit of the braces... the wires, the metal frames that went around the molars and the pieces glued to my teeth, carefully placing all of it in a baggie.

The next week I went in for my appointment. After opening my mouth, he asked "where are the braces?"

I took the baggie out of my pocket and threw it on the table.

I told him, "you should have gotten me in last week."

I hated those braces and that was the end of it.

I can identify with that. I had a Bimler Appliance I had to keep in my mouth while asleep. It caused all my teeth to be loose and move and it was painful. I just had to stop wearing it! It cost my parents a lot of money but no thanks. I had bad dreams about wearing that thing even in adulthood.

My comment wasn't to say you're cheap, Bill, more of just a statement of how things are these days.

Have you ever tried or considered "spinning" your pins instead of peening? It's a method for securing pins without hammering. Here's a video, the guy starts out describing a method of "spinning" that refers to giving peened pins a finished look, but then he goes on to explain the non-peening method of spinning pins- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHYW0K-1w6Q
