Fortunately the knife he had purchased was a NIB Queen-made S&M, not a counterfeit. Unfortunately he’s an example of the type of buyer/collector that counterfeiters and sellers successfully prey upon.

Well, think of it like this. If the collector is buying what he likes to look at, or fondle, or display, or squirrel away in a drawer, then he is just as happy with a fake as the real thing so long as no one tells him the truth. If his knives are an investment, then he is out of luck, or more likely his heirs will be out of luck. Except that the collector will probably never be able to bring himself to sell, and the heirs will sell his collection to a dealer for a small percentage of what he paid.
I am not saying it is okay to sell fakes: the makers and the sellers deserve be castigated and reviled. But on the other hand I have bought from Sporty more than once, and been happy with my purchase. Probably the stuff I buy is too cheap to be worth faking.

Using that explanation, does that mean it’s okay if someone embezzled money from your savings account, as long as you don’t know about it? You got the reassurance of believing you have the money and your heirs will benefit from your efforts.
After you die your heirs learn their inheritance you thought you left is worthless.
And the statute of limitations on the embezzler has expired, so there is no recourse.

I understand both you and the above poster, I'll say this knives aren't my only hobby/addiction, I also like guns,, and I've always been willing to overpay if I wanted it enough. Actually as I typed that, it's nothing like being unaware. I'll walk away and watch

Looks like sporty is back at monkey business again . Laughing all the way to the bank ! Note the similarities on this New York knife co . When compared to the wilbert posted earlier in this post .

Knife above sold for $416 plus shipping and any tax. Good and bad all the same.
Interesting that searching "Hammer Brand New York Knife" completed sales on eBay that this fake below turns up as the second highest price paid completed sale. The knife directly above came in as 5th highest price paid. 2 out of the top 5 are fakes. Amazing what people will pay for such knives.
This knife has a fake blade in an old frame that is not a NYK Hammer brand.

i believe that's an Ulster frame. Folks really need to do their research (like right here) before they go spending that kind of money.

Got another one here. Claims it's a Warwick Knife Co knife but has a NY Knife Co pen blade. I'm not even sure if the frame goes with either, definitely not a NY Knife Co frame.. Note how the shield seems to have glue under it and sticks waaay up. In any case the blades are definitely a deal killer as something was switched out. I mentioned it to him and as usual instead of admitting that there might be an issue he used the excuse that it was a contract knife done by Warwick for NY Knife which is baloney. The stamps would have both been NY Knife Co if that were the case. Anyway here's the listing, buyer beware.

Roger I agree most of the old Warwick knives I've seen had pick bone or similar.

It looks to me like the Mew York knife co .and wilbert fakes posted earlier in the post have the same bone scales as the Warwick ?

Although I’m a fan of western states I would not touch this one with a 10 foot pole . Could be a good one I guess , but why take chances on it .stamping looks a bit funky to me and the blades have way to much shine .

I have spotted a couple of knives on eBay recently that I started looking at, then saw that he was the seller, so I moved on.
They were cheaper knives and probably legitimate, but who knows?

A western states with a master blade with as much shine as this knife I would think would still retain some reminisce of an acid etching . Also the swedge looks incorrect and more modern .

Also the chol does not look correct on the sheep’s foot and spay blades .
