Not from an old photo... this is a knife that was part of Dad's collection that I inherited that went to a friend who is a knife collector...

I'm only be keeping a relative few of the knives that my dad made. I just feel that the bulk of the collection needs to be in the hands of collectors and others who will cherish them. The one sure part of his knives that I am keeping are the miniatures. While these are a little on the large size of "mini", they're "keepers".

Dad had a couple of small display cases for his knives. Those filled up quickly. All of the knives in these cases have gone to new homes, except for the aluminum with inlay that I have kept.

I think that some of these knives have shown up in other photographs, but not all of them... thus, this post...

Awesome fixed blade.

This is one of the knives that I am keeping. It is one of the earliest knives Dad ever made. I have pointed out before how those knives had such an "organic" feel to them. As his experience in knifemaking progressed, the knives became more "angular. This knife, to me, expresses Dad's raw creativity.

Agreed M.J., the knife has a very "warm" appearance!

This little knife gets almost daily use. It's my letter opener. The Christmas after Dad began making knives he made letter openers for me and all the nieces and nephews in the family. I wish he had thought to take pictures of all those knives, but he didn't. My opener is just shy of 5" long.

This is another knife that I am keeping... if I ever need another letter opener...

He certainly was a prolific knife maker.

Dad was prolific that's for sure.

This post begins the photographs of fixed blades that were left of his work after his passing in 2016. So far, over 40 of those have found wonderful new homes. This knife with the circle insets might call to mind one of the knives that I am keeping. That one is made from aluminum; this one is steel. It's an early one, too, with "Jay Bigler" engraved on the other side.

Thanks. Dad made several all-metal knives through the years.

Your Dad sure built his knives with handles that one could really get ahold of M.J.! Nice!

Looks like some nice skinning knives.

Dad made two other skinners much like the one I just posted. Both were done before the one with the wood handle. They are similar in shape, but there are subtle differences. Although they both look like they have black blades, one is silver
