seems like a monumental idea Rick, especially for a casual site visitor who might not visit enough to know they've even won something ..... but they'd have to:

1. Navigate to the user control panel
2. Click on the Board Preferences Tab
3. Click on Edit Notifications Option
4. Find the section for Miscellaneous Notifications
5. Find the Someone Send You a Private Message row and click on the box under the email column

and IMHO, most folks are not going to follow those steps to receive an email notification when someone sends you a PM. But I'm like you, if a free knife is one the line, I'm looking for notifications everywhere I can so I can claim the prize if I'm luck enough to win.

I subscribe to each month's thread to get notifications of updates along with any threads I want to follow in particular. This is done by clicking on the wrench at the top, and then clicking subscribe.

It could be as simple as setting a reminder in your calendar for the first day of the month, to check AAPK and see who won the GAW. If you entered by picking a number, it might be you.

I got the Boker knife yesterday. I feel truly lucky to have won this knife and be
part of this nice group of enthusiasts. The fit and finish on this knife is
truly amazing. I am going to put it in my glove box in my car, replacing a
barlow by Ideal.

This has in introduced me a a group of larger knives I may have to
start collecting and using.
