When you buy a HOK from a company you don’t collect, in a pattern you don’t care for just because it’s a good deal.

When you leave late for work in the morning because you felt the edge of your blade and it needed stropping before you left.

When you carry a good old pocket knife in one pocket and a SAK in the other so you can use the SAK for the rough stuff.

When you give your favorite EDC the week off and cycle through some of your others because you feel like you’ve been neglecting them!

When you spend an hour giving a knife the full spa treatment. Cleaning, oiling, honing, etc. Then IMMEDIATELY look for an excuse to use it on something!

You realize you are missing a knife in your drawer. You stay up past
1am to find out which one. You worry for 2 days where it is and
can’t stop thinking about where you left it, You find it and get
a dopamine rush in your brain like no ever. You use it today,
You shine the bolsters and sharpen it before bedtime.
You plan on taking it to work with you the next day.

(When you told your wife you found the knife she feels relieved because
she knows you are possessed and there are worse things in life)

I lost a small Schrade around Christmas time last year. It about drove me nuts because I only have a few Schrades and they don't show up often on eBay over here. I looked for it for 2-3 hours. Turned everything in my "usual places" where I am at in the house upside down. Couldn't find it anywhere.

Later that evening..., I look at the train going around the Christmas tree and there it is, "Train-Hopping" around the tree on a flatbed train car. Looked cool, I just forgot that I had put it on the train.

When you are looking through your knives and find a really nice knife that you forgot you had, and it's like Christmas.

When I was in the Corps I got tired of "buddies" screwing up my knives so I went to the flea market in Jacksonville and picked up a POS made in china pen knife and dulled it even further on a brick. It became my loaner knife.

Wasn't long till everyone stopped asking to borrow my knife.

When you have to go to jury duty and you feel naked cause you ain't got your knife.

When you find a knife that’s fallen down in the chair cushion and you hadn’t even realized you’d lost a knife. lol.

Guilty.

When you have more than 10 knives on the table by your chair, that you don’t even pack, just in case you need to cut something.

...when you buy a Barlow with both blades broken off, "because those handles are so pretty"!

You’re at the airport about to go through security, and realize your well-used EDC is in your pocket - you forgot to put it in your already-checked bag. You look around and decide to put the knife behind some tourist brochures in the rack that is in the waiting area. When you arrive on your return flight a few days later, you go to the rack, retrieve your knife, and go on about your business.

Ingenious Ken, best one yet!

When you see a beautiful woman, and take more of an interest in the knife clipped to her pocket than her.

When someone asks to borrow your knife and you demand two forms of picture ID, collateral including their first born child, but say "NO" anyway.

When you give away a nice pocket knife, but then scour the internet looking to buy a knife just like it because you miss it.

When it takes you 15 minutes to decide what knife to carry every morning.

When the amount of steel in your Collector Cave causes local compasses to get false readings

When you have a Collector's Cave

When your suitcase gains five pounds after you pack the knives you want with you for the coming week.

When your wife drags you to a Renaissance Fair and you think at least you can pick up some wax.

You have your entire collection set up like Cutlery Corner's TV show. When showing off your collection to visitors, you walk back and forth behind them while describing each knife like Todd Boone.
