All About Pocket Knives

I can tell how smooth the covers are by just looking at your photos. Looks great.

Just completed another.
This is a Coldland Co. of Canada, project knife kit.
It's a full tang Damascus Steel, Brass bolsters and I used Ironwood for the handles. .
My next project is the DIY Knife Kit, They call it The Sensei Fixed Blade.
I would love to use Micarta or a G10 in a jet black or Ivory, but I'm not ready
to work with that stuff yet. So I have a bunch of Ironwood that I need to use.

You have done some great work ! It’s been nice to kind of journey along with you thru your posts . You are becoming very good at this . Great choices of handle material and great craftsmanship . Enjoy, and looking forward to seeing the Ironwood

I had to skip the Sensei Fixed Blade for now because I don't have the right size Corby bolts.
So here is a Camillus Titanium "Mask" and I created a handle from Ash wood. Nothing fancy,
but it does feel good in your hand and has good balance.
BTW I don't recommend trimming your fingernails while your using a bench belt sander, it
kind of hurts.

Ouch, David. Man, I know about those raspberries one can get from a fast moving sanding belt. And, they take forever to heal up and seems they never stop stinging. I feel your pain.

Can we all agree, my carving ability sucks!
This was a OPINEL that allows you to style your own handle. I wanted mine to be different
from what you normally see and it does! I think maybe a 10 year old could have done better
than what I came up with. Anyway it will make a very good shop knife.

I'm not sure you did so poorly on this one. Opinel has never been known as a beauty queen by any stretch of the imagination.

Thanks Ray, but after I really looked at these pictures it looks like I cut off the end of a wooden broom handle and stuck a
blade on the end of it. I think I'll stay with the other knives I've been working on.

I think you are being too hard on yourself. I like it, looks like a swayback, and the finish looks good.

The Sensei Fixed Blade Knife Kit. I think this might be one of the best ones I've done so far.
The bolsters are solid pinned bolsters and the handle is Ironwood. I had the choice of using
pins or screws. I added the Red and White spacers.

Looks good David..

Most all opinels look like broom handles to me. Nice job and the buffalo horn is fantastic.

Here is my latest attempt at Kit Knives.
This is a Knife/Letter Opener from SARGE. It came with the full tang blade, brass pins and leather sheath.
I added the yellow spacers and the Black Linen Micarta Handles. This was my first attempt with Micarta
and I'm surprised at how easy it was to work with. The handles are almost too smooth to hold a firm grip.
In this case I think the handles look old or aged. Finished length is 6 inches.

The Opinel you did...I like the finger groove you put in the handle. It will assist with the grip...and, YOU put YOUR personal touch to it. That's what makes it unique. Don't over-judge yourself.

That Sensei knife is GORGEOUS! What an eye catcher. VERY NICE!

The knife/letter opener knife looks great with the Micarta. Turned out very well, from what I see.

Keep up the awesome work, David. I've enjoyed seeing your handy work and expertise.

Here is one more for the shelves. With the exception of the blade and sheath this was my own creation.
Damascus blade, Linen Micarta/Maple Handle, Red/Yellow spacers, Brass lanyard hold and Nickel Silver pins. 4 1/8" blade and 8 1/4" overall.

Good job, David. You have really got this thing going your way!
