Good thread, Corso, and a couple of real nice knives!
Mike, I love those two exceptional knives, especially the carved pearl congress!
Smiling-knife: beautiful stainless, great handles! Good etch (or likely stamping?) on the stockman. Great pictures as well! A few of those gentleman had been working for Joseph Rodgers since they were 9 years old.
John, I never get tired of looking at that stag congress, exceptional knife!
Lee, three good ones, I really like that pearl quill knife, interesting frame shape!
Joe, you made a good user out of that stockman!
Ray, great batch of Joseph Rodgers! That scissors knife is unique! I really like the 4 blade pearl!

I have only the one Joseph Rodgers, which I posted in the bareheaded thread. I will get another photo and put it into this thread as well.

Great Jos Rodgers knives everyone. This is a WWI GI British Army knife.

Nice knife S-K ... Rodgers made so many knife patterns and all seem to be top notch!!

J.R. is famous for fit & finish and top handle materials but were the blades any better than less expensive knives when it comes to sharpening and edge holding ?
I have never seen a post about how well an older/vintage J.R. knife performs.

I can't realy say how they compair against old US made folders as my oldest is a Camillus #21 but my 3" boys knife is kicking the stuffing out of my GEC #14 so far.

I love the #14 but this little Rodgers is sharper and cutting far better

The two blade pen knife will be going up against a Case soon but I expect similar results

Thanks Corso. I am surprised to hear an old J.R. is out-cutting a 1095 steel blade made recently.

its a straight out the box #14 so I think it will improve with a bit of work

The Rodgers has an almost convex edge to it that just seems to work - I only stropped it when I got it and it was shaving hair

The GEC with a light strop didn't shave hair out the box - with a bit of work it will. Then the real tests can start

The GEC does beat the Rodgers for confort of use but thats only because the scales are a little thicker - not that I would but if the Rodgers had new scales I don't think it would ever leave my side

I enjoy seeing the Rodgers knives! I have one but would love to find more.

Thanks guys. It's got a pin crack but otherwise pretty good. Took a steady hand to grind those blades!

Wake this thread up, added a very nice Rodgers stag pen knife, I would say little to no use, 3 1/4", does have one crack in stag that is tight and hard to see. Marked Cutlers To His Majesty and #6 Norfolk St, so I think it is pre WW2.

Here is my latest. It's 3" closed. I love the sunk joints, they made a great knife!!

WOW ! Mike i believe that is the famous Rodgers "Norfolk" pattern. What a great find. Top manufacturer, best pattern, and the very best stag. Wow !
