One more 23 that I just finished working on. Scales are smooth bone "Sunset" from Culpepper. Not sure if they are still on sale, but they were very reasonable a few weeks ago. They started out very dark (as usual) but the more I sanded the more I realized what the "sunset" name was about. I intentionally left them a little bit rough to fit the character of this knife. I also think the thicker slabs fit the true character of the knife and my big paws as well. Sorry, I just noticed from the pics that I forgot to wipe off the metal filings from my workbench! I like it!
I’ve worked with Culpepper sunset smooth bone before and like the colors. And the thick slabs on this larger knife worked well!
