Your LB7 serial # is indeed a low one and from 1978. In 1977 serial #'s went to ~19,000 and by end of 1978 they were up to about 220,000. Schrade went on to make many millions of LB7's.

We all love those minty knives that have spent their lives in a sock drawer, but there's something to be said for those knives who have earned their keep by doing what they were built to do. Great collection of "work knives".

Thank you all for your response to my post and information on my knives. Yes old knives do have a story from the dent in the scale to the marks on the blade. I can remember a lot of work and hunting trips with them. The LB7 holds a lot of memories How happy my late Sister was when she gave it to me. Believe it or not I can still see her face the day I unwrapped it. I am getting to sentimental as I get older. I better leave it at that.

Like I said Rod, a used knife has a story to tell. Sometimes when I buy a used knife at a flea market, yard sale, or on ebay I can tell a few things about the person who used it. The way it has been maintained and sharpened, the amount of wear etc. all tell you little things about its past. The knives that I've used myself over the years all have nicks, scratches, chips, and such that trigger memories. Some of those memories are very sentimental. I find it all fascinating.

You are correct!! There are a lot of stories and memories in old knives. I feel the same way about old guns. That's why I will pass mine on to my Son like my Father did with me.

I know this is an old post I started in 2019. I was unpacking some boxes and found some other knives I used when working and a few I picked up after I retired. Just thought I would share. Schrade, Buck ,Kershaw,Frontier,Case, Gerber, Saber and Bear and son. Maybe I do have too many work knives. I know there are a couple more but at this moment I can't put my hands on them.

Like I said I have a few more I just have to find the box. One knife a buck 110 I left on the side of I-95 after working on a tractor trailer I wish I had that back.

I can't help myself it's a fixation with that style of knife. Mostly all I carried when I was young. Now when I am working around my property, I carry a pocketknife and a big lockback on my side. Hard to break a habit.
