All About Pocket Knives

Well, here is one that just couldn't cope...

I picked it up for a friend/co-worker who likes brass and needed a desk knife at work. Blank shield, normal (as nearly as I can tell) sheepsfoot blade and no "Cope" stamp on the main/clip. The seller (flea market) had it priced below well-used standard 80Ts.

It is great for the new owner - pull is SAK-like so it's easy to use, useful assortment of sharp (did I mention sharp?) blades, unique enough to identify as hers, and interesting enough that she feel a bit special when the guys at work see and remark on it.

Shot in the dark, but does anyone have any clue what knife steel might be used in the skoal knives?

Some, but not all of the Skoal and Cope knives are tang stamped, "Schrade +", for the kind of stainless steel the blades are made of. Schrade + was 440A stainless steel until 1998, then it was 420HC. I'm guessing that the blades that aren't stamped with the + are the same steel. They are all stainless steel blades, to my knowledge.
