I have many Old Advertising knives. Here are a few of my most interesting ones.
This one was made in Solingen Germany by GIV-A-GIFT.
Perhaps it's a salesman sample being that there is no advertiser listed. You open the master blade and the two advertising views change to a new view. Very inventive. Here is a older Ulster U.S.A. RCA Tubes most likely a advertising giveaway. Another RCA Advertiser, a letter opener with a miniature "Electron Tube" within the handle. In 1920 RCA began the first commercial "Electron Tube" manufacturing, also called "Vacuum Tubes."
I have seen ballpoint pens with pictures that change when you invert them but I have never seen them in other items before. They are normally referred to as "Floaties"

Unusual ones Dan, I especially like that floating radio tube letter opener!

Just razzing you a little, buddy! As much as I like that knife, I think it belongs in your collection with the other W & H and I wouldn't seriously ask for it in trade. It is my favorite of those you have posted.

Bluefield Hardware/York Air Conditioners Colonial Pen, 1960s-1970s era. My Granddad knew a guy who used to be a representative for Bluefield Hardware (who, in his late 80s 20+ years ago, later worked for Citizens Building Supply across the street), but I do not know if he was the Reg Wickham mentioned on this knife.

Lowe's pushed them out in the '80s, and the building is occupied by a construction company, and their lumberyard was purchased by the adjacent Citizen's Building Supply.


Have no idea why the blade stains appear rusty in my camera.


Bluefield Hardware, at one point, was not only a Boker distributor (which is why I still see a ton of old Bokers here), but was able to have knives marked with their name.

So far, this one is the only one I've seen, and near the top of my grail list. Given I live in the next town over, I'm still perplexed why I've seen none of them--either in shops or in other people's collections.

This advertising pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. This particular advertising pocket knife was NOT the reason for my purchase. However, it did end up being added to my general pocket knife accumulation. It is a U.S.A., one blade, one tang stamp,
1 1/2" closed (not including the loop or ring), one spring, tipped bolsters, advertising, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "U.S.A." The pocket knife itself does NOT advertise anything. But, it did come with a key ring and a plastic storage box. The main side of the key ring says, "VIRGINIA LEE - POTATO CHIPS" The main blade has no half stop and doesn't have a good opening or closing snap. I am 99.999% positive that the key ring belongs with this pocket knife. I do not know if this plastic box goes with this particular pocket knife and key ring, but it works. This pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. Both the key ring and plastic box are also in VERY GOOD condition. Absolutely NO cleaning was required. I just wiped everything off. I took some pictures and here they are.

I will always think this knife is a “PREMIUM” knife! Slanted pinched grooved bolster, etched blade and three back springs. Bone handles are perfect old UTICA IN PERFECT CONDITION. Previous owner must have had a lot of live stock.
