Thanks, Cal...I've had that Pearl Buck reference pointed out to me a time or two. That Aerial is a good looking knife. This is the only other Buck knife I own...guess if you had long legs and real tall boots it might qualify as a boot knife.

I only have the one, it's a Case-XX P62-4 1/2 SS. It has a 4 & 5/8" blade. Overall length is 8 & 1/2"
Knife #8 in my first post was made from that model Case. Back in the late 1970's a company in Stoneham Massachusetts bought a bunch of Case boot dagger blades and contracted with Shaw-Liebowitz to craft handles for them. They were to be made in a run of 750 and represent the Army Navy Air Force and Marine Corps. The handles were cast in pewter and silver plated. They were supposed to come in a custom walnut case(all four together)and the price was $500.
For whatever reason(not enough subscriptions;too pricey)the only knife ever made was the USMC knife. I bought two of them in the 600 serial # range for $15 apiece in the mid-1980's and gave one to my brother who was in the Corps. Never have seen any more of them floating around. Somewhere I have a copy of the original ad for them;I'll see if I can dig it out and post it.

I bought one of those back in the early 80's at a barbershop of all places. I lost it somewhere along the way but have always remembered it as a might fine knife. Guess I ought to see about replacing it one of these days.

Jet-Aer Corp. of Patterson, NJ started selling knives in 1973 till the mid 80s taking classic knife designs manufactured by companies like Buck and Gerber and having them produced in Japan and advertising them for sale in Sporting Magazines. They still produce fluids for the aviation industry.

I just started getting fascinated with boot knives. I can see the advantage of carrying them when an uncomfortable situation might require more than a folding knife alone or in military environments.
