Those are beautiful knives, John. I really like the blade etches. Of course, I really like everything about the blades!

It will be awhile before they make that pattern,but when they do there will be a 2 blade.We already have the book marks made for it.

Mine also arrived on Monday 12/11/17 They are gorgeous. Thank you Roger & Ken.
That is, they arrived after their little trip through the Bermuda Postal Triangle.

This is an excellent development! Having CF&CE the bone and cocobolo whittlers this week/weekend, determining which one I am going to end up carrying has proven to be a difficult decision! What is undeniable is that the workmanship, F&F on these knives is outstanding and that they are a pair of beauties!

Here's a pic of the bone version from my knife-dump photo yesterday:
Roger, the felt bag that shipped with my cocobolo knife has begun fraying at the corner by the drawstring openings - is there a way I can order one in this style to replace it? I can probably put a stitch in the current one and still use it for carrying knives but I'd like a "clean" one just in case. Let me know where to send the check!

Apparently there were only a few of these Whittlers done with the smooth Red Bone and I was fortunate to grab one up!

I didn't know they were an option.

It's not what you fellas think....I am nobody special and neither were these knives. There just happen to have been a few left over that the manufacturer threw some smooth red bone on.

I have bought one of every knife Roger and Ken has produced and I will continue to do so as long as they have them made. Might be why I was able to get one. I am not a huge fan of the red bone, however, I do love the Whittler pattern.

I think it looks GREAT with the smooth red bone but i know it would not be possible to convince you to trade it. I am sure it has special significance to you and of all folks here, you deserve it.

Tom, very nice! If I remember right Roger told me there were 5 of the red bone made with leftover parts. I got one also but will have to wait until I'm home with some daylight to take pictures.
These Yankee Whittler's are definitely my favorite knife of 2017.

Finally got a chance to take some pictures of my red bone this morning, what a gorgeous knife, thank you Roger and Ken!

For those of you that got one of each (Cocobolo and Bone), which handle material do you like best and why? BTW, including a copy of the ad for the knife from the old catalog is really a cool thing to include! Thanks.

My impressions are that the bone is flatter, a hair more slender, and feels more utilitarian in hand. It would probably make the better user IMO.

The wood handles are rich, luxurious, grainy, a little more softly-radiused and slightly thicker. I think the cocobolo makes for a beautiful knife but it might make a better display piece to keep the polished surface pristine and looking great.

I don't think I could pick a favorite overall, but I think I'd prefer to have the bone model in my pocket and the cocobolo on my mantle.

Oh, and if any of you fellas are tired of the smooth red bone version, let me know.

Good question Larry. I usually always prefer Bone over Cocobolo, but with the Yankee Whittler pattern, it's a draw. I carry neither one. (Display only)
However, I have posted the original old Maher & Grosh catalog pictures below that you requested.
The picture below is from the Maher & Grosh 1900 catalog picturing "The Yankee Whittler" This picture was listed in the 1929-1930 Maher & Grosh Catalog No.49.
Same knife, just a little different detail description.

Now I've seen it all, a "whittler" with all 3 blades next to each other. But I like it.

These look great, but sorta/kinda wishing I'd not seen the smooth red bone version.
