I am definitely confused. I posted my choice before the deadline, eastern time on 10-30; yet my name is not on the list. (I would not have won anyway.) It was not a last second punch in either.

No, the time is not incorrect on my computer clock. This has never happened before. Can someone comment on this???????


To be clear, I was at least 15 minutes ahead of the deadline.

Is the deadline 11:59 P.M. Eastern, as the rules state, or whenever the list is posted? My entry was prior to 11:59 Eastern. The posting says the sign up for the month of October is closed at 10:11 (Jerry time).

I knew this was going to get me in trouble some day. I wanted to get the post listed and go to bed (it was after 11 Pm Eastern Time). Since I had never seen anyone grab a number that close to the deadline, as I had done a few times before I jumped the gun and posted the list. If there is a standard, everyone needs to be able to depend on it and I just flubbed that one. Let this be a lesson to me. My sincere apologies for getting sloppy and I can guarantee I will not do it again.

To err is human; to forgive, divine. Thank you for all that you do for the pocket knife community here on AAPK Jerry. Even if we weren't old Amdahl colleagues, I'd still look forward to your colorful repartee every time I visit here. Maybe the 11:59pm deadline needs to be revisited to something more accommodating like 1800hrs. After all, there were 720 total hours that the giveaway was open. Just my $0.02.

On page one, October, 2 you posted the above comment. Why didn't you pick a number at that time? Why wait 28 days later to pick your number?

Everyone here that is helping run the AAPK monthly giveaway are volunteers like Jerry said he wanted to go to bed we don't sit here waiting for the exact minute to post the final list My suggestion is get your number picked early and there won't be any issue.

Thanks for your suggestion Miller Bro's. It was always my assumption that entries made before the posted deadline would be honored, or what's a deadline for? Jerry's response confirms that. People should go to bed any time they please. Jerry's service is appreciated, he is no flubber and there is nothing to forgive.

When we all have all month to get our numbers let's make the final list time at say 2100C, 2200E on the last day of the month???

Already taken care of Don. Number selection now closes at 1800 Eastern time (6:00 PM) on the last day of the month and the Illinois Pick 3 evening drawing (2130 drawing - 9:00 PM Central time for you civilians) will still determine the winner. Wouldn't it be great if you got your wish this easily all the time?
