Hi, I don't have as many knive as some collectors and most that I have I would be hard pressed to sell. I love older American Made pocket Knives but also have a passion for Richtig's of which I own 3. Icarry a William Henry for daily use and sometimes keep an old one from my collection in a pouch in my pocket. Just like to have knives on me!!! Maybe a little nuts who knows. I will be setting up at the Lewisburg Show next month with my collection of Nagle Re-Blade knives and items.

hey, great looking knives everyone! here are a couple of my favorites. they are cases....my most favorite one of all is the black case canoe. its a 1989 canoe with buffalo horn handles....horn2131.....the other is also a case canoe....1989 with sheep horn handles....sh2131. its hard to pick out my favorites, but i guess these two would have to be among my most favs....right now anyway...lol. anyway, hope to see alot more great knives!

My favorite knife is a mother of pearl Howard Cutlery Co whittler made by Canastota Knife Co. I wrote to the Canastota Public Library in Canastota New York. The librarian there graciously sent me a copy of a Canastota Catalog. In that catalog I identified my knife Great fun and super history. Happy Collecting.

You know we have all kind of reasons why a certain knife is a favorite and for me this simple Bulldog stag is special just because of the hunt and months it took for me to aquire this special knife.

This knife is a beautiful 1st. generation (1978-1987) Mint 3 blade trapper in genuine sambar stag.This trapper was an Original Charlie Dorton design with 325 Made.

I'm with with TKC that Case xx 1989 buffalo horn is "Killer" if you ever have an itch to trade it let me know...


One more question..Those are some pretty great pics as well how did you set it up? I usually wind up fighting flash or shadow's in my pics..

A friend asked me not to bid on the first one I saw that came thru ebay. So when this one came I grabbed it.

I think I paid $76.00 for it. Not a bargain, but not way out of line I suspect either. It is used a bit. Thats not a scratch on the master blade, just a glare. I cleaned and polished it is all.

I dont know how many of the Peanuts were made in Rough Black. An educated guess on its age is 1945 give or take a couple years.

Ok now you got my interest in something I have wondered about for a while. How does one identify a Case XX made between 1940-1964 down to a particular year or proximity. For instance you mentioned the black peanut being made around 1945, is that because you just have an idea of when black peanuts were made...My knowledge of anything Case is pretty limited (For the moment at least )

thanks guys for the compliments on the pics. i didnt use a scanner....dont even have one...lol, any, i just got a book and layed a piece of plain white paper behind the knife and took my digital camera and placed it on the closest setting and with the red eye reduction on and took the pic. i dont know if the red eye reduction has anything to do with it, but it doesnt seem like theres as much glare in the pic if i use it...and the white paper, i think really shows of the color in what ever color is in the knife.

thanks, sunburst for the compliments on the buffalo horn canoe. i have some older cases but out of all the ones i have, that one is my favorite. i guess ill hold on to that one.

hey hawke, believe it or not, my father in law is toting his rough black peanut, but its not in very good shape. the blades are really worn down and the handles have almost worn smooth from being carried over the years.....he still gets alot of use out of it tho.
i picked up one myself recently. i was browsing thru some knives and i came across it and couldnt believe the price that was on it, so i snatched this beauty up. its in mint condition.

On the dating sunburst, Im going by
1. It has a tang stamp of the pattern, often this is left off on earlier knives of this era, (Not always tho)
2. WWII time frame saw this plastic type handle used alot instead of bone
3. There are two types of master blades on the peanut. One is often called the Case Tested blade which is slightly slimmer. I believe my rough black as well as Steves to be the fatter one.

Combine those things and I selected 1945 as a guess.

The two types of Peanut blades:

Notice the closed "C" in the shield of the slimmer blade(on left) and open "C" on the other. A Tested knife has the closed "C" in the shield. The slimmer blade and Closed "C" would be one of the earlier knives like 1940 being a "transition knife"

You would have thought that plastic might have been harder to find with the war effort going on...? Thanks again...

great looking knives guys! heres a couple more of my favorites. one is a little something for the toe nail collectors...its a 1980 elephants toe/sunfish museum knife. i am somewhat partial to the apaloosa bone handled knives, i really like the color they bring to the knives, and the other is one that i just recently got. its a stag handled hen and rooster canoe knife that im really fond of. anyone else like the hen and rooster brand?
