Ken, Very nice set of Stone knives, I would love to own one but they don't come up for sale very often. I have a Ralph Bone hunting knife that looks a little like a Stone knife. Ralph Bone is no longer with us but I met him in 1980 at the NRA convention in KC. I bought this knife in 1969 and it has been on a bunch of elk and deer hunts. u:: Terry

Thanks for the compliments y’all. I’ve posted this before, but I grew up in Richardson, TX where G.W. lived and made knives, and was acquainted with him. I couldn’t afford his knives at the time but have acquired a few since.

There’s a reason they look similar. Ralph and G.W. were both gunsmiths and business partners in a firearms and knife shop in Richardson, TX until sometime around mid-1960’s, when Ralph left and moved to Lubbock. Some say Ralph focused on the gunsmith work and G.W. made the knives, regardless whose name was on them. Having seen many knives made by Ralph Bone when he was in Lubbock, I doubt that story. But no doubt their knives clearly have the same influences, including as G.W. often said, Bo Randall.

The only custom knife maker I've met is a custom maker in my town, Bud Nealy. He has a devoted following for fixed blade working and professional knives. Curious if anybody has heard of him ?

I have a couple of his Timberlite designed knives with the Neeley Lock system;is this the same guy?

Here's 3 makers that we have talked about all 3 make a Scagel Style Knife
Malosh , Smith & Behring . And a few more of Jim Behring
As you see I like Jim Behring Had them in a display Jim's for about 10 year now I need to clean and protect for a while longer

Thanks I will have to post all the early & different Stamps that Jim used on the one's I have after a good cleaning .

Could be ... the few that I"ve seen of his at knife shows are fixed blade with a custom retention sheath he designed for personal carry.

The thing I like about Boye's knives is his use of dendritic steel. Can't rust, very sharp. Would be great for someone living or working near salt water.

While Jimmy Lile is probably best known for his Rambo knives, I much prefer his less flamboyant work such as your knife. He executes that favorite pattern, which beautifully flows from butt to tip, with awesome workmanship. You are blessed Gary.

Here are the customs that I still own:

Mike Alsdorf Gunstock Interframe Craig Camerrer fixed blade Ray Cover Canoe Charlie Bell Zulu This Ken Coats EO Jack found a new home but I still have the picture. I carried this one for several months and I didn’t realize the bond I had formed with it until it was gone.

Railsplitter, each one of those is inspiring; sort of like a fine painting.

Some really beautiful custom knives being posted here;I think the drool is beginning to invade my keyboard!
Some of the customs I have were never signed(or the marks are cryptic)for whatever reason and I could never understand why. I will post a few of them:
First up is a sliding blade dagger with the marking,"EL" in a circle and on the other side the letter Z with a small 3 next to it. The frame is machined in two pieces with paper Micarta handles and the blade is opened and closed by depressing buttons on either side and sliding the blade out and in.Releasing the buttons locks the blade in position.
Next is a nice single blade folder with wood(rosewood maybe?)handles that are angle cut to fit to the angle cut on the bolsters only requiring a single pin to hold them in place.A machined nail nick on the convex ground blade.
Next is a double-edge dagger with a blade made of brass and engraving on the tang with ivory handles.Bought off e-Bay for very cheap money.
Next is a set of three stag handled fixed blades of different sizes.The guard is stamped,"McGrann" and if you look closely at the blades they have a faint etch of "Brusletto".Looks like the blades may have been purchased and the rest of the components made.I've never been able to find out any info on the name.
Another is a shorty drop point with the initials "FRP" stamped into the solid brass handles.A very heavy knife for it's size.
The last three are: A boot knife by Ralph Bone of Lubbock Texas;a small folder by Frank Carlisle of Detroit Michigan and a kitchen knife by J.I.Cottrill of Columbus Ohio.

Railsplitter that Pearl Gunstock is awesome also the Bell & Coats are very Nice . I have a couple of Ray Cover that I will get around and show later. Ray is well liked maker .
