That no one else here has seen this one before, i think customized Camillus is a possibility. Camillus had an in-house "Custom Shop" although i don't know if it goes back to before WW II, which i think your knife is.

Quote from a few experts on Camillus:
"Hello Kirk, It sounds like you know about as much as I do. The 4 line tang stamp would make that knife pre 1945. (which I thought 40's) I do not have that one in our museum. My friend who collects Camillus and keeps his collection there would sure like to make you an offer. Is it possible you would consider an offer? please check out out face book at Rock USA Cutlery you can contact me easier there."

Tsar Bomba wrote:Kirk, that is an outstanding and touching story and I'm glad that these knives have such a heartfelt and important story behind them; they are truly priceless by that metric even putting aside their obvious rarity and quality. Thank you for sharing them again, and that Worley is nearly as fantastic as the Camillus.

Is that some early Rogers I'm seeing on the Morley (still can't tell for sure on the Camillus, either from bone wear or "polishing", but it doesn't look like the various kinds of Rogers bone I've seen in my meager experience).
RobesonsRme.com wrote:Don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting the authenticity of the OP knife. Neither ring-turn knives nor Camillus are within the areas of interest I have in pocketknives.
Just curious. Is it possible for a standard pocketknife to be turned into a ring-turn knife by a skilled craftsman?
I imagine anything is possible with some of the knife ninjas we have and we've read about here. While I feel the same about the ring-turns as you do, Charlie, I personally know that the Worley is a real-deal knife, it is actually a grail knife of someone I've chatted with in another knife/"edged things" forum which he semi-recently acquired. I had a similar thought about the big Camillus but didn't see much evidence to suggest it had been apart and retooled in such a dramatic fashion, plus the ring hardware seems to fit the rest of the knife. It must be far more difficult to take parts and rejigger them into a ring turner, I figure.

It could be the same knife. In your link an AAPK member posts about the ring turn Camillus selling for $329 in 2010. It has had 7 years to be in a collection or get 'passed' around. Maybe you now have it. Or maybe there are 2 (or more).

Respectfully - Sorry, no way.. The 'worm' grooving' on his jigged bone isn't even the same as mine..

If I were a Judge, I would most certainly throw this argument out of court.
The jigging is way off and not even close to being the same knife.
Now we know there are more.

Unfortunately, not in my pocket.

My vote is 'for: (two, or more') This is clearly a different one.

I guess you know your second jigged bone ring turner is from Germany.
I there wasn't someone playing devil's advocate, you would not get to make as many posts.

Kirk, I'm sure you know the Morley / Camillus connection. Both brands were owned by Adolph Kastor. Both are early 20th century knives.Truly a nice pair of Ring O's.
Thanks for sharing, Barry

Yes I knew.. but I am pretty new to the ring turn brands. I am pretty good at hunting them down though. Then you can Google most anything with a little effort. I've learned a lot, hopefully I'll never know everything. Then I'd just get bored. Thanks - Kirk

Kastor made most vintage knives! And many without his name or mark. Instead other countries taking the credit as if they produced said knives... Thank you so much my friend!

Thought I'd share a quote about my Camillus ring turn from Wallace Rockwell! Plus they wanted to purchase it.
*And quote:

Note: Pretty solid proof it is an authentic real deal Camillus ring turn knife!

An endorsement from Wallace Rockwell definitely supports this knife being all original. Wallace was in charge of the 'Camillus Custom Shop' for 34 years up until the closure in 2007.

Super ring turners with bone Kirk

.... That Camillus and the subsequent confirmation from Wallace really nailed down the value and rarity of that knife

... Cool!! On another note I was really sorry to hear of the loss of your friend - and indeed I believe the story behind finding the knives was not just coincidence....

Another beauty, Kirk. I am beginning to figure out why I've never seen one of the Camilluses. If it sold for $329 seven years ago it's probably fixin' to fetch a fortune these days!
