I must admit it was the highly figured Mesquite burl wood handle that sold me when I saw this knife. I wasn't particularly drawn to the Ettrick pattern with its blade that looked too short for the goose-neck, exaggerated swayback frame but after I got it in hand I was pleasantly surprised to discover how nice it felt. Although the proportions look a bit odd to my eye, the handle fits comfortably in my hand and the short blade is perfect for control. I can see why it would be the go-to choice of whittlers and wood carvers

That’s beautiful Q. I like seeing an old post by Roland also. Makes him seem close again. Miss him a lot.
