It has been a while sense I last posted here.
I have moved on with my life .Sold my farm, built a new house and retired.
I still seem to be busy.There's a drought here for the last two years and I go out and help where I can.
Here a couple of pictures house and some little tables I made ( they are made from timber the farm ) .The table sit next to lounge and you can sit your tv remote or coffee or beer on them.
I login into AAPK most days.

Grant, congratulations on your retirement. Hope you will have lots of time to do the things you enjoy like using your fine carpentry skills.

Good to see your new home and some of your handiwork! What kind of wood are your tables made from?
Here in the Florida Panhandle we experienced a humdinger of a hurricane back in October and it is so devastating to see so many beautiful pieces of wood being ground into mulch or being burned.
Congratulations on your retirement, too! Now you'll never have enough time for anything.

Thank for your nice comments.
The first table is made from needlewood with a sandalwood insert ( natural color ).Needlewood is a very hard timber to find and I would say it is one of a kind so I am keeping it.The rest are made from silky oak. I have made eleven so far and my daughters have taken six.My sister also wants one.
The timber was cut into slabs with a chainsaw and put though a planer thicknesser.

Grant, that would is beautiful! I showed my wife these pictures and she really thought the wood was amazing. She also thought they would make good knife handles. She's always on the lookout for me, LOL!
Is it possible to get some of that needle would from somewhere? I think it would make beautiful handles for fixed blade knives. You know if it is exported to the US?
Your tables are absolutely gorgeous! I don't think you would have any trouble selling those commercially here in the US.

As far as I know no one mills needlewood.It's a rare tree( scruby and does not look like its worth milling ) and very hard to mill as it splits and contains lots of defects. I was lucky to have one on the farm that was damaged by a storm.It a different type of tree the sap wood is almost white.That's the white edges you can on the table.
Years ago they use to make smoking pipes from the wood.It is a very hard wood.
I did make one knife handle using needlewood a few years ago.
