Ray, the first one, (closest to him), looks like it certainly could be a round gravity type knife however the rest of them sticking in the handle to my eye look like ordinary knives with bolsters and a shield.

Thanks Lyle, here is another photo with a sailor carrying his rope knife.

Nice photo Dimitri!! .... looks like a WWI photo when many of those knives were made under contract for the Navy as you know... now that is cool!

Going back to the first photo of the young lad stricken with a neuromuscular disorder - in thinking about it there were many disorders in the early days that may have resulted in his condition (but I'm thinking polio) - and my other guess if not polio is he may have had this since birth... I'm starting to think that his caregiver (parent perhaps...) did the carving as he sat in that chair with the spinning loom on it to amuse him and he would stick the knives in the arm rest of the wheelchair when not in use... and I think that larger jack in the front is real and it is the way the light is hitting the blades - just another guess....

I wouldn't want to run on to a "cretan" with a dagger late at night.

I agree Lee,I think someone else made the models,and polio or birth defect is a good guess as to his condition.Quite the Sherlock Holmes'er.

Wow, that last picture, the guy on the left looks to be carrying a Western W49!

Doggie in the middle looks like he has something strapped to his right leg below the knee. Appears to me to be a Buck sheath.
