Though it isn't a folder I thought I would throw this one into the discussion.Picked it up with a bunch of kitchen cutlery(see post in ,"In the kitchen forum) for 50 cents.Even has what looks like a salesman's sample number but on the front of the blade.

Nice old kitchen knife, Ray. Who knew?

Here is a Greenbone Jack, tang stamp Is Standard Knife Co.

Good looking Standard jack, thefarside. Looks like it's in great shape and Case jigging too.

Hey Guys, I just got done posting this knife for some answers in the Western tang stamps thread,,, but Thought it may belong here as well.
Here was my post:

Any info will be appreciated as I am looking for some answers.
I dont know the History very well between Western & Case and I am NOT a Western Expert. I bought this knife and thought it was a Western States knife. I opened the master blade and seen it said "Westaco" stamped,,,I said oh well thats cool. I then opened the small blade and Wow what a surprise,,, it says Standard knife Co. I immediately went to my Goins book to see a reference. I did find that Standard knife Co knives were made by Different company's according to Goins. I am hoping someone can shed some light for me.

Here is an original 1901 to 1903 Standard Knife Co Little Valley Knife I recently purchased (believe it or not, I paid $2 for this knife!). Glad to add it to my collection!

Harvey Platts was related by marriage to the Case family and was a partner and employee in the the business. He became ill and was diagnosed with "grinder's consumption", thought to be induced by breathing the dust from grinding knives. He was advised by his doctors to move to a drier climate, so with full blessings and best wishes of his family he sold them his share of the business, took his family and moved to Colorado. Where he soon founded Western Cutlery. Initially he had no manufacturing capability there, so for some period of time knives were made for him by his old business partners and in-laws at Case.

Not unreasonable or surprising that your knife has a blade stamped Standard Knife. As you know that was a Case brand and evidence your knife was likely made by Case for Western.

The Platts family (father and sons) were no doubt a big part of the old cutlery industry - when FRJ (Joe) and I visited Northfield we saw the head stone in the cemetery for Charles (the patriarch) and his wife Sarah... Northfield is where it all started before the family moved on to Bradford etc...

I just received this eBay purchase today. It is a tiny pen knife with severely cracked scales. The main blade has a slight swedge, and both blades are stamped “Standard”.
At $9 I was willing to take a chance, but want opinions from the experts here as to whether it is actually a 1920-era Standard.

I would say no. It looks to be of German origin judging by the bolster pins.

It is an interesting knife. I think it's another "Standard".
I would agree with Greg and also add that tang stamp has another image there along with the word Standard that seems unusual.

The German cutlery industry adopted names that might influence buyers, to the extent, one hardware or Cutlery publication I read spoke of the deceit.

We saw it in the 70s with German Winchester’s, whoever’s idea it was.
