There will be a jig bone model in both Tidioute and Northfield, ebony, blackwood, acrylic, and burnt, natural, and genuine stag models. These will start to show up late this week or early next.

I want/prefer coal black ebony. I think GEC really missed the boat by not putting a shield on this knife, however I am pleased that it's not another all steel model.

There is a Northfield model in African Blackwood that should fill the bill. It'll have a shield and be jet black!

The Tidioute's are out, i've seen them on a couple of sites,no sign of the Northfields yet.

i stand corrected,Northfieds are out too!

Just got 'em in tonight! The Tidioutes are plain with no shield or etch, just a good solid old timey knife. The Northfields have the typical bling. The Frame is similar in size to the Case 31 1/2 but is a little more compact ; the blades have solid half-stops and tight lockup. Photos up tomorrow.

Natural Stag didn't last long! :lol:they're beautiful!

The factory supplier knows that GEC / customers like the darker ebony; but many times if you are going to make them - you have to make them with what is available. They don't use gabon very often, but what they do use will come with a lot of brown one time and mainly black the next. Just the luck of the draw on the boards that get shipped to you.

But it might surprise you how many people ask for "a lighter colored ebony". I do think they should not run both the ebony and blackwood in the same runs of knives. Generally leaves a lot of ebony sitting on the shelf.

Had to grab this one......looks to have some pretty decent stag on it.

I got these two lookers in today. Wow! great pattern, & great wood scales on these two! #78 American jack in ebony & African blackwood.

What is that? One in Ebony and the other in African Black Wood???

Very nice pair of #78's Ryan. I just received my #78 American Jack in Stag and it really is better than I expected. Maybe one of those patterns that is far more impressive in the hand than in a photo. Was concerned that the clip master blade's proportion looked a little off, but it seems that the 2.5" long pen secondary may have been causing it. The pen on these is only just 1/2" shorter than the main making for a really excellent and useful size blade. The blade configuration with the pen in front is always good and overall the knife has far exceeded my expectation. Perfectly centered blades, crisp half stops and flawless fit and finish......can't ask for any more than that. When this pattern was announced the lack of contour to the handles didn't get me too excited, but when the Northfield trim is added the knife really is a looker. Jack knives are just about my favorite and this one at 3 3/4" is exactly the right size. GREAT JOB ON THIS BY GEC!! 10 of 10....

Thanks Trevor, I am pleased with the pattern, both the northfield & tidioute I have are nice. I agree GEC did a nice job with this one.

Is there going to be a spear main blade?
