Dimitri, it is an RH 36, UMC, 1925 to 1932, as new, with 6 1/4 inch blade.

That is a substantial size, and in such nice condition, nice find

Nice, Dimitri! Is that Turner an English job? Kinfolks made a lot of fixed blades for other cutleries. Any Schrade Cutco (pre-1947) fixed blade knives were all made by Kinfolks. I have some early WESTERN knives that I think were either made by Kinfolks or Kabar. I have missed a few really nice ones lately due to a mysterious lacka lucre. I see some newbies out there bidding huge money on ebay items. We poor old retired folks can't always play the alpha male in this market. I know about one out there now that has me pacing the rug, back and forth, forth and back... pay the rent, buy the knife, pay the rent, buy the knife...

Yes, Sheffield England, I would date it around 1890-1910.

I found one this week, a model 390-5, I had never owned a Schrade Cut. Co fixed blade knife before, I do have some G. Schrade fixed blades.

How long did Schrade carry fixed blade knives? I see very little of them for sale around here.

Here is one of my favorite Marbles, a Longhorn.

Beautiful knives, fellows. I have a question. Was the Cattargus Quartermaster military issue only or were they available to the public or vice-versa?

The Catt 225 Q was military issue, with many being sold as surplus after the war.

I'm trying to think if I can come up with even 5 favorites . . . .

--Cattaraugus 225Q: The Case Q-knife makes a lousy hammer, and I've broken or seen broken too many MkIIs to have it as a favorite.

--A decent 4-5" drop point: Loveless would be the classic, if a guy could afford one; being cheap I have a knock-off.

--A decent bird and trout knife: Most of mine are Westerns, but I've got several Remington/Pal RH-24s.

--a decent 5-6" double edge dagger

--Remington (not Pal) RH-4. This was the "everyman's knife" for much of the 1930s, and showed that even in the worst of times there was a demand for a well-made knife. Western made the original, and Marbles seems to have made the first copy, but the Remingtons were everywhere.

Whaddaya know, I did manage to find 5.
