If you have any doubt to what this is, please refer to Phil's answer on MB's glass cutter on page 1.
It's about 3 1/4" in dia. It's hard to get a good picture because of the domed glass reflecting in any which way you turn it!

Joe, nice paperweight
Here is a printers block these were used to print pictures of knives in knife company catalog. It is a pearl handle pen knife with MOP handles, the really neat thing is how they cut out the metal block so that when the picture is printed the handles look like real MOP
The second picture is an actual print on a piece of white paper

Engraving is a true art form, MB! Ever watched those guys that
make the "change"; quarters, dimes, and nickles for the US Mints?
It takes a steady hand, that's for sure!
Now that would make a great paperweight!
Here's a pair of sheers stamped Robert Klaas Prussia. The cranes are on the opposite side.
These things have a notch in them??? Looks like it was designed to go past a hem and
cut the material beyond!
Anyone know if they were for industrial use?

Joe,
Those are button hole scissors, used to cut a precise size buttonhole in a piece of fabric. The brass knob is used to adjust the size of the hole you want to cut

Thanks Mike
I cannot see it in you picture but I am assuming there is a wheel under the top slide piece that makes the indentations in the paper check.
What is the patent number or date on yours?

Yes it is there but I could not get a good picture of it. I can't read the pat date it is worn and not all there.

Thanks for the info on the Klaas buttonhole scissors, D!
It's just almost obvious now.
This is something I picked up at auction earlier this year. I think I sniped it (sorry) - but
Imperial has kinda been dragging me around by the ear for the last 10 or 20 years
Magnesium appears to look a lot like aluminum and is light weight, but there molecular
make up is totally different. Magnesium will develop a patina over the years.

There have been some interesting items posted here.
Here is a Robeson Junior Hair Clipper with covered handles in a cloth bag. These are much smaller than the comparable adult sized clippers. One handle is embossed, "ROBESON JUNIOR HAIR CLIPPER". Or, words to that effect.
When I got these, they were in their original black Robeson box. When I shipped the collection out to Eugene, OR for the 2001 OKCA knife show, FedEx managed to distroy the box and two others, I suppose by flipping the shipping container over and over. It was a complete mess inside.

Your right Jerry, very painful memories!
My dad used those on me until I was 12 and started working and making my own money so could pay for my own haircuts & buy my own school clothes.
Those clippers are probably the reason I have very little hair on top of my head…..it was all PULLED out by the roots by those *&^$##@# clippers!

I feel your pain. I don't remember when dad finally bought a pair of electric clippers but I'm pretty sure I was in high school. My first "store bought" haircut was when I was a senior in high school. We was poor folks.

Had your dad's had a pair of Robeson clippers, I suspect your memories would not be so unpleasant.

Nice comb Rick!
I guess this fits in this thread, it is Not Necessarily A Knife, but it isn’t necessarily not a knife either!
I got this from Al Mar in the late 1980s or early 1990s.
It is made for well-groomed gentleman. The nail file fits in the front pocket of the sheath and the Wild Hair goes in the top, with only the comb teeth showing.

- The Wild Hair and sheath
Al had a sharp sense of humor!
This neat little packet is really a 3-in-1 grooming tool.
The nail file, the comb; that much is obvious, but should you forget your razor,
the edges of the dagger are more than sharp enough to do double duty as your razor.

Here is a small brass ruler marked Pratt & Co they were a firm in Buffalo NY ans sold knives under their name. Not sure if they made them though. I have a 4 blade peral and the pulls go threw the tangs.

Do you suppose that company later became Pratt & Whitney?
edit; upon further googling I think not. Interesting company none the less.

Cool little rule, Mike!
It looks as if it were purpose built. Maybe some kind of machine set-up gage.
Interesting read willie!

On further review, it appears to be a scale.
The use of an "unmarked" gradient scale is very common in drafting and design.

Nice stuff guys
Here is something you won`t see every day.
It is a pocket folding screwdriver made by the Marble`s company circa 1913-1924.
The different size screwdriver folds out and can be locked in place, the square hole at the end is for presto-lite headlamps used on cars in the early days, the case is nickle plated.
