All About Pocket Knives

What baffles me is the people who cruise ebay for knives have to see the same knife the first seller listed and then a few days later, the very same knife re-worked and doubled in price. His buyers must be hypnotized.

But "HE IS BACK"

I will post this here and do another in vintage discussion with some photos. I have a family heirloom Marbles Safety folder. It has never been touched except to sharpen lightly by my Grandad - probably before I was born. I know the prices are out of sight, but I will never sell this relic. How could a vintage one like this, first go for $700.00 then with fine sandpaper and a (fake?) sheath go for $1300.00?

Like I say he must have some 'shills' buying his stuff or those who are real buyers, just fall for his skillful refurbishing.

Easy, people like knives in "Perfect" condition, or as close to it as they can get, so they will always pay more for one that looks good.

The sheath he sold it with was real, it just did not come with the knife when he bought it, that part of it really has no impact on authenticity, a sheath is a sheath as long as it is original to the period of the knife, the sheath alone is valuable and hard to find in good condition

I am not postive, but ain't knifebob the same guy that does brett's work? Or the same guy? Seems like there was some big deal or whatever with BRL awhile back.
Of course BRL banned both from that site. Kinda weird @ the time, you may be able to search the history to see where I am comming from.......If possible.

This post is amazing to me. I watch e-bay alot ( family says too much ) I have seen these knives on both forms. How naive I am. I have most likely bought knives from this cat. I never noticed but thought it strange that all his knives were cleaned and titchy,titchy for lack of better wording. Thank you so much miller bro. I am going to read you fellas more and keep my hands in my pocket while I get educated after forty years of collecting. Thanks again....John K.

Yeah,,,I believe you are right. I think Brett said that this Guy (knifebob) was his Customizer...

With all the knives that He puts out...I would think that it would be at least 2 People.

So, you guys really think some of these blades have been welded? Dang, I cant hardly fathom that! I`m like you guys.....how does he do this stuff? Also, I`m wondering what kind of parts bin this guy must have to rebuild all these knives and just how long he`s been at it? Then I wonder, with all the rebuilding time, parts storage time , etc, etc.......wonder if his profits even end up being "profits". Makes for lots of questions on where, why and how. I really dont know enough about rebuilding, and making knives (yet) to even fathom a guess about my questions but like you.....seems it would be just as easy to remake the darn knives from scratch.

Bernard also does a Q & A Knife forum on BladeForums and another site IIRC. He also has a website: http://www.knife-expert.com/ where he answers questions about your knife ($5 fee) and has info posted on knife laws by state.

He has a number of links from his sight that are quite interesting to a knife –knutt!

Description:

The knife measures about 3 1/2". Scales look very good showing one very fine hairline at the center pin-back side. The hdw is n.silver with brass liners and cap lifter pull. Blades are all in very good condition with hard snap. Main blade does shows some minor wear mainly in length. Cap lifter blade has good lock up. Real nice Catt. scout knife. Thank you for looking.

I have to give Brett his due; he (or however does his work for him), is a good knife mechanic. I just wish he would be honest about the fact that they are reworked knives.

Gotta agree with you Dale wished i could do that kinda work--make it known that it's been reworked--people would still give decent $ for it
