Well since I passed on "Kate" I thought afew more 72 spears would be in order....

Haven't used a spear blade since the boy scout's so I'm going to give the Ebony a try...I wasn't sure about the Black Plum,
figured if I didn't like it I could always rehandle....but it's kinda growing on me, a little purple by the bolsters..you about
have to look at it the sunlight to see it's color.

BTW...these boys came super sharp....

I like 'em Bob Love the Ebony on that knife.........

Sure wish they would have done a Northfield version in Ebony. Some killer Snakewood would have worked real well also imho

For those of you that have a new spear blade 72, I'd love to see pics of it beside a 48 or 56 pattern GEC for size reference. TIA.

I'd also like to know how wide it is as it's widest point. (measured from the back of the blade to the back of the handle)

The Spear Blade ,appears to be 7/8 in. at widest point across blade_ It is 1 1/4 in. from back of blade,to back of handle**__hope this helps,Monk

If you are reading this, it may be too late to get your hands on one in TS, as they are a short run from what I understand. I got mine ordered, though!!! Can't wait to see that SS/Stag combination with the acorn shield!!!

This one came in the mail today____not stag,but cow, leg bone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _____They finally ""dyed"" the bone all the way to the bolsters,and the jiggin' is awesome !!!!!!_________

The clip ones are great. How are the wharncliffe models? The tips of the previous Northfield and Tidioutes stuck out too much for my liking so I held off on getting any. Anyone with a new wharnie able to report on if the tips sit too high?

Not so's you'd notice.I like that they're very easy opening! Just grab the blade and no need for the nail nick, really.

Some photos,of the ""new release"" and the 2010 knives___ on the two 2010 Burnt Stags,I can feel the tips of the blade,if I drag my finger across them, closed ( not enough to cut my finger,though )___ I can not feel the tip,on the 2010 Genuine Stag or the new knives ???? The new 440C blade,may sit down,a little deeper,than the 2010's,but it's very hard to tell

I have not noted the blades 'sticking up' on the new GEC 72s, but I did have that problem with another knife recently. Couldn't carry it, as it kept snagging from time to time … so, at the suggestion of a fellow collector, I took a jewelers file to the "kick", knocked off just a shade of it, and she sits down just fine now. Bear in mind, this was not a lock-back, and it was not a very expensive knife so I was willing to experiment.

I would definitely ask some of the more experienced folks on this site what they think before I messed with any of the better knives, but I know that in certain instances the fix can be as simple as a little careful file work.

Edge, I've done that twice before... both times on the wharncliffe blade of my #53 Furtaker Trappers. They weren't high enough to break skin but it bothered me once I knew that I could feel them. If you file too much off, I believe I've heard, the back spring might sit lower than it was supposed to when closed. I never had to go that far. I didn't if doing the same would work on a lockback or if it would cause any other issues.

Each of these has been posted elsewhere, just wanted to post a pic of them together.

Trying to hold off any more for a couple weeks so I can try and get a Liner-Lock 73 or 23
(or both................. )

I have one or 2 in the hopper, hope it holds me over........................but I know it wont .
