Marbles Ideal... the big one.

This pair was made by Bob Young, the shop foreman for forging and grinding at Gladstone before they closed. Buffalo horn on old Ideal blades. If I ever work up the nerve to open an AAPK store, these will be in there.

An American product I picked up this morning. The blade does not appear to be altered, Made from mid to late 60's. I think this is a cats tongue handle not the armor hide. [attachment=0]

Thanks: Here are a couple of nice ones. A Frank Richtig and a 49 or 50 Gerber Shorty. I will in the following post show an original 1948 Shorty in as close to mint as I have seen. moss

It is from 1948 the first year of production of their Shorty. The first totally designed from scratch hunting knife they manufactured. The sheath is original for the knife. moss

Here is my Gerber Mini-Magnum that I carried for years. The one pictured is #2.
I was visiting my sister in Portland and being young and dumb and full of a willingness to abuse a decent knife blade, I broke mine. I went to Gerber. They replaced it; no questions asked. They probably didn't want to hear another stupid story.

Before I got into folders several years ago, fixed blades were my favorites and I still like them a lot. I don't do the old knives but can I play anyway?

A couple of guys in my hooch in Viet Nam had Randalls. I was very impressed by their performance and wanted one. In 1978 I found a brand new Model #8 Trout & Bird in a local gun shop. It was affordable so this is my token Randall. I've told the story about buying a Ka-Bar from a guy that worked in supply when I was stationed at 29 Palms (brand new, never used) and then having it stolen from my wall locker. I still wanted a "Ka-Bar" so sometime in the '70s I bought this Camillus from a local Army Navy Surplus store. Marked U.S. over Camillus.

Since that time, I've added three Ka-Bars, a Case and an Ontario. (not shown)

I wish I had bought more Effingham Blackjacks when they were still $30-$50.
And more EK Commandos when they were $25-$30 a pop.

I paid too much for this old Queen but what the heck did I know.

These Gladstone Marbles are hair splittin' sharp right out of the box. I like 'em.

I got my Western L39 in 1957, at almost exactly the same time T.J. got his and in the same way. Green Stamps or Plaid Stamps or maybe it was Top Value Stamps, my mother collected all of them. I broke it in about 1959 and Dale fixed it for me last year.

Nice knives and thanks for the comments. Jerry, in my opinion it is not getting a real buy or paying way to much. To me it's the fun of the hunt and the enjoyment of having an object you want and the pleasure it gives you to have it. I would be willing to bet your price on the Randall made up for the high priced one. I was able to capture a Black Jack Effingham 1-7 a few years ago. They sure remind me of some of the Randall's.

Got one just like this at a fleamarket saturday but it is a Ontario 10-76 PSK 4 OR 5 BUCKS Displaying it with my uncles Vietnam metals that I center around some of my knives.

Here is an old unmarked hunter from who knows when. The knife is okay but the cover that someone has fashioned for the blade is exceptional. Maybe 18 or 20 ga sheet. I look at this one and imagine some old cook at a covered wagon on a hunting trip.

Picked up this morning from a Coast Guardsman who was previously stationed in Alaska. He purchased from an old guy as he put it who bought it in Montana. Nice old Hunter or cooks knife.
Probably put together somewhere around turn of last century. Has the looks of a nice old piece. moss

WOW I see I have not stopped in fixed blade why to long.

Queens #f7 Carved Bone filet knife.

I got her cuz I am in love with that handle CSB.

Picked this up at the flea market today from a friend of mine.Did a search and found that the company is located in Blaine WA and this is their Alaskan Camper model.
Some idiot had tried to sharpen it with an electric knife sharpener and then(thankfully)thought better of the idea.Minimal scratching easily removed with some 320 wet-or-dry paper and good old Mother's Mag Wheel Polish.Looks like new after about 15 minutes work.
Massive knife:1/4" thick blade about 11" long;beautiful 1-piece antler(probably elk or caribou judging from the size;almost 7" long)handle and a fantastic sheath that has a double loop construction(apparently for different size belts)and a loop for a leg tie.
Retails for $165 on their site;I got it for $60.

Nothing on the cover. One of these days Dale and I might get together and try making a few of differing lengths.
Here are a few more Gerbers. The single on the Left is a Shorty with the Cats tongue applied.
The single on the left is a 1950 Miming with a sheath I had made up.
The left Piggyback is a Shorty Chrome handle with a steel
The leftover is a Chrome Shorty with a Pixie, the last two are probably from the late fifties, the other double is 60's vintage.

Here now is a rather unusual old CUTCO, hunting knife with a serrated blade edge, these are harder to find than most.
