As I related on another thread, I overlooked the 56 for a long time, and now I really like it a lot ...

Earl you have a good eye...Adam (Darksev) did the work, only thing original is the blade.
Titanium liners, carbon fiber and G10 for the bolster and handle...it's light as a feather.

Johnny thats a sharp looking knife your carrying... ::tu::

A 73 Scout and a Mink Skinner are my only two GECs so far, and they both get carried. Both have a little more use on them since this pic was taken.

I just did a quick inventory and about 22 of 37 GECs are in, or have been in, my EDC rotation. Some more than others though.

Which ones do you seem to favor? A particular pattern or size?

I like to have at least one long blade with some belly and at least one straight edged blade. While my #53 Cuban Stockman and Furtakers should be at the top of my carry list, I find myself carrying a #48 single blade, regular, or jack along with a #61 half congress. Sometimes swapping a #48 for a #12 and a #61 for a #25. If I could get a #48 jack with a short wharncliffe, sheepsfoot, or coping blade, then I would probably become my primary carry knife. 3 3/4" - 4 1/8" would be the ideal size I think.

That said, I keep a #53 Furtaker, a Stockman, and a Victorinox Electrician by my computer for a quick grab and go knife if I'm in a hurry.

I also like the #73 pattern but its more than I need in a knife during my day so I don't carry them as much. #56s are nice but just a little smaller than what I'm looking for right now.

Great question, Mike … thanks, 2Dead!

I think maybe I need to try out a 48 trapper … looks like a nice balance …

Oh we'll be here all right, to add fuel to the fire. Just ask Monk for advice, he'll help you out. ::ds:: What you need to do is go to a knife show where GEC is set up and see about 75 knives that you can handle and check out in person. ::groove::
